I've recently been singing karaoke once a week, and building up my repertoire. I was just thinking it would be interesting if we all posted and listed the songs we enjoy singing (and how well we feel we can sing them, and how well others have told us we sing), and whether we sang it in karaoke, a choir, a musical, in the car alongside the radio, in the shower, as a serenade to a lover, or whatever reason you have to sing.

I am a baritone, but my voice goes all over the place, and I'm not bad at mimicking accents once I've heard them enough.

Thus far, my list of songs I have sung for Karaoke (with mixed results) have included the following:

Everything by Michael Buble'
Teardrops on My Guitar by Taylor Swift
On My Own by Eponine from Les Miserables

I Hope You Dance by Leann Womack
Summer Nights by Rascal Flatts

Impossible and In My Own Little Corner from Rogers and Hammerstein's Cinderella
What's This from the Nightmare Before Christmas
God Must've Spent A Little More Time On You by N*Sync
Chasing Pirates by Norah Jones
The Impossible Dream from the Man of La Mancha

7 Things; Can't Be Tamed by Miley Cyrus
Barenaked by Jennifer Love Hewitt
LA LA Land; This is Me by Demi Lovato
She's So High by Tal Bachman
Funhouse by Pink
Witchy Woman by the Eagles
Breaking Free from High School Musical
Firefly by the A*teens

I'm constantly saying "I sing sweetly, but softly." I'm a soprano/2nd soprano, and I can sing well but have never been able to get up much volume. As for what I sing...anything, really, with words I know and a fun tune. My tastes are pretty varied. Most of the time I have fun making up harmonies for the main melody. Off the top of my head:

*Away from the Roll of the Sea (Alistair MacGillivray, pretty ballad. A beautiful version here (though no female voices:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GCxB4vnJ0QA&feature=related)
*If I Can't Love Her (from Beauty and the Beast, usually harmonizing)
*Cryin' Out My Heart for You (Van Alexander?, stuck in my head recently, fun recording here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cX9dflw2kWU)
*Hello, Young Lovers (from the King and I)
*Can't Help Singing (from Deanna Durbin's Can't Help Sining, recording here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m8rW4SNvWDg ...yes, that's her real voice XD)

...and that's just songs I've sung in the past 3 hours! XP

Yay, I get +10 points! I wonder if I should sing that for Karaoke... I feel like it can't be worse than the numerous times people have rick-rolled the audience by singing Never Gonna Give You UP.

I actually got to see Shari Lewis (with Lamb Chop, Charley Horse, and Hush Puppy) at a Christmas show at the Valley Forge Music Fair.

Back to the subject, I am wondering if I can sing Scissor Sister's Only the Horses this week... hmmm.

This week, in honor of Christmas in July, I sang all christmas-related (even if only slightly) songs:

What's This? from the Nightmare Before Christmas

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sEK5w2MWB1Y

Scrooge from the Muppet Christmas Carol

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KBthi_An5qQ

Santa Baby by Eartha Kitt

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DeNhjPaP53I

I sang the role of the Wolf in Baby It's Cold Outside with the help of a friend of mine. And yes, I know this isn't the original performers, but I love this clip from Glee:

Once Upon a December from Anastasia

And Mele Kalikimaka

The group as a whole wrapped up the night with It's Raining Men, and I thought I sang it pretty well. It might be interesting to do a youtube video at a gathering where the mermaids talked about the recent explosion of mermen on the forums, I thought.
