North Pacific Meetup: Aquarium and Pier Photos

Hello again North Pacific Mers,

I am trying to organize event where we can visit the Seattle Aquarium and take some dry tail photos at the park near the Aquarium.

I am hoping that it will take place on Sept 22, 2012 or some time after that.

The basic itinerary is as such:

Noon - Meet at the Starbucks in Pike Place Market.
12:30 pm - walk to the Aquarium and meet up with anyone else coming.
Explore the Aquarium and the nature of Puget Sound!
Have a snack in the Aquarium
4 pm - Retrive tails from cars and put them on for photos at the pier nearby
5 pm - Some mers will have to head home, otherwise more hanging out can take place somewhere.

We may have a mer coming who is very sensitive to scents; this is not her fault and we will be making a few small concessions for her. I am asking everyone to go scent-free (no perfumes) and to please choose non-seafood dishes when we have a meal. Thank you!

@Madeleine - I promise we're nice! I know how scary it probably is for your Mum to let you meet up with a bunch of people from the internet. I met my husband on the internet in 2001 (before it was common) and my Mum was very cautious at first.

Felicia, I think that there are 5 other Mertenders/Chaperones/Significant Others coming so of course your Mertender is welcome! The more the merrier!

So my landlubber has decided that he doesnt want to come, and I thought I'd have a tail but since Im moving it got packed away(thanks to landlubber) and I don't know if I will be able to get it in time however I still really want to meet you all so if no one minds my lack of mer parts I'll still come but without a tail :(

The question is, how fast will security react? Generally speaking, they don't like people even sicking their toes in the water. I've been asked to leave just for sicking my hands in a fountain's water before :/ Uptight yohos. Usually fountains with security farther away is best, give you at least 10 minutes till you get kicked out XD I've heard 10 minutes is average for that kind of thing (I would, lol!).

ok my mom said we can come! but I know she is still nervous. >.< Anyways she suggested we should do the SOLVE beach cleanup instead or in addition to this meet, but it is on the 22nd of september. I know she will bring it up at the meet. and my brother has to come. So its not entirely a fairytale ending but its better than not going at all. :)

Madeline, I'm just so happy you're coming!

I think a Shoreline cleanup is a great idea - but is there one near us at the PPM? Also, because some of us have to drive 3+ hours to get there, we just might not be able to squish everything in. I'm going to struggle getting there for 11 or noon or whenever I set the time, lol! The other thing is that we have someone coming who has limited mobility and while I know she'd do her best to help, I'd rather our first event be something she doesn't have to stress out too much about. Like I said, I think it is a fabulous idea! Maybe we can plan another meet in Oct or Nov for a clean up?

We had such fun! The aquarium was great (I loved the octopus, sea otters, and seal the most), and after we ended up taking pictures at a cove and swimming in the Puget Sound. It was FREEZING (instant pins and needles can't feel things soon after you get in freezing) but it turned out to be lots of fun!

So guys, for me it's hard to believe it's only been 3 weeks since the meet. I I had such a blast meeting you guys!
And swimming around in the Puget sound! What a great experience, in just one day :)

So my fiancé did get some fun footage of our swim, so I edited and threw some music over our silly nonsense and it's currently being uploaded to my YouTube account ^_^
