This a thread to share pictures of, ideas and recommendations for, etc., for costume mertails that are not designed to be waterproof/swimmable, or can be easily used as dry tails. I gotta say, as emo as I can be sometimes about being a "drymaid", it does have it advantages, like making it cheaper to buy or make a tail, since I have no need for a monofin or other swim heads.

FinFun has been a godsend for this drymaid, as not only are their tails not made to be used with a monofin, they're open at the bottom so they can be pulled up like a skirt for ease of walking on dry ground. AquaTails and FoxMoon have dry tail options for sale as well.

This could probably work for that purpose

Traci Hines has done some awesome dry tail cosplays. Here's one of her dry tail cosplays:

Then there is this awesome Broadway Ariel cosplay, which I love:

Oh yeah I know that's not Traci, but I had posted a link to Traci's myspace albums that feature pics of her in her Ariel costume. I said it was from Dragoncon but it was actually comic-con. The next 2 pics are of a cosplayer whose name appears to be NecroticNymph.

Lisa Fabio of True Enchantment Entertainment is the costumer who makes all the awesome costume pieces you see Traci wearing. Traci makes beautiful hair accessories.

Here is another "dry tail" I made for a belly dancing mermaid costume:
