Is that a dorsal at the bottom, or is that drawing upside down?

For that budget and the current makers, it'd have to be a neoprene and latex (tin cure or slip casting) or neoprene and tin cure silicone tail. However that means you may not be able to get the translucent fluke you want. People have made translucent dorsal and pectoral fins from tin cure silicone (like how Moonflower did (http://mernetwork.com/index/showthread.php?1610-Silicone-amp-Fabric-fins-Progress-pictures)), but no one has attempted a whole fluke. That also means that you'd have to have a custom made lexan monofin, so that would add to the cost. If you want something cast out of latex or silicone you'll need to keep saving. You'd need silicone to get the translucent fluke with a cast tail (but you could forgo the custom monofin if you went to the right maker), and those start at $2500 without additional fins, and go up to above $8,000 with the additional fins.

Also keep in mind silicone doesn't stay clear- over time it changes color to yellowish then brownish. I usually give the example of Shimmerbaby's PAX mermaid tail (before (http://i219.photobucket.com/albums/cc227/winged_mermaid/Other%20Mermaids/mermaidsmovie4.jpg), after (http://sphotos-a.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ash4/267537_10150311511651153_627116_n.jpg)). Even when Mike (Fliptails) makes tails that are remakes from movies that originally have translucent flukes, and makes them out of silicone, he doesn't leave anything unpainted because of the discoloration issue. He could have the ability to make them translucent because of the silicone and no monofin (just a foot pocket) but he chooses not for that reason. (13th year:example (http://sphotos-b.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-snc6/271154_241148099229126_5362147_n.jpg), example (http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10151188108438294&set=o.214150993293&type=3); Aquamarine (http://sphotos-a.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ash4/s720x720/403158_319115928125204_537944022_n.jpg)) Usually people only make those for short time use, like for movies.

So yeah! My advice would be to reconsider the transparent fluke. After that, with a neoprene base you can stay well under $800 :) Love your fluke design, by the way!

For the fluke I meant more just the bottom translucent, and thats not a necessity and now that I hear about the discoloration I wanna scratch that xD And thank you!

I just wanted to add to the thread. I know a tailmaker that makes 100% (You design them 100% completly) tails (Silicon, Latex, and Just fabric) Her name is Stephanie "Stevi" Summers, her company is "Fish Butts". She has amazing silicon tails that cost $1,500 and latex ones for $300. (Airbrushed, Painted, Non-Painted) She does amazing! Heres her link: (P.S. The current cover photo is her first ever silicon tail, amazing huh?) http://www.facebook.com/fishbuttsforsale

Well, if you purchase a Deluxe Silicone Mermaid Tail from Mermaid Creations, well make the tail for you.

You can have a Competitor Mono Fin, translucent fluke tips, and your design of extra fins.

"Can't be done." is not in my vocabulary.

I would suggest "Fish Butts", because they have amazing silicone tails for 1,500$ or Latex for 200-350$!

The tail might look good with green scales and purple fins, or blue scales with orange fins, just a few suggestions. :p
