Since Mermaid Bubbles is going to be moving in with me in August, we decided that our room needs redcorating! We were leaning towards an ocean themed bedroom howvever, my dad does not want us to repaint my walls as they are still "fresh" (yeah, like 5years ago ). Anyway, we are stuck with purple..Now we are going with our take on a pretty modern teen girl bedroom! We haven't decidedon al the stuff we are going to need yet, but I will start you off with a few ideas ;)

Get a loft :D
You could still add some really neat aquatic things to it, after all purples and blues can work together in my opinion, and the sea is full of colorful fish :)
As for the bed set, I love it!

I agree with Spindrift.. I just redid my room recently because I had such a mess going on and a loft
is freaking amazing. It gives you so much room it's CRAZY! Also I like being up high when I sleep
to avoid any monsters o_O

Sadly, I'm a bit broke right now and can only use the things I have (other than the bed set and the lanterns) So I got an old day bed O_o I'm happy with it, it's really pretty! Glad you two found the loft helpful ;)

^ Funny thing about that, my mom finds wallpaper tacky XD she is such a picky person.
I've purchased my curtains and my rug. The curtains are a little to long so I might have to fix them up a bit. Sadly, my bed set is on back order :P Oh well I am in no rush!

Oh hey just so you know, I found this thing (http://ana-white.com/2012/07/plans/camp-loft-bed-stair-junior-height) a while ago- supposedly she had a kid sized loft bed made for 50 bucks. You'd still need a mattress of course. I'm a tad skeptical about the cost, but if you have someone who can work with wood, you might find this worth looking into, just in case you might have considered canceling your day bed order. I really love the landing they made with the steps <3
Oh, btw if your curtains are a little too long, if you hang them like normal and allow them to puddle on the ground a bit, it can look pretty and romantic.

If you're having problems with curtain length you can either raise the curtain rod higher (it also gives the effect of the room being taller and larger) so they hang properly. I wouldn't worry about the holes that are left from the screws, you can just fill them in with a bit of white Colgate toothpaste (trust me, this works), and the curtains should cover the rest. Or you can take hemming tape (you can find it at most fabric stores) and simply hem the bottoms of the curtains with it. I recommend using the heat activated kind. You iron it to the fabric, and it holds much better.
I hope you're having fun decorating! Interior design is one of my favorite things. I just redid my bedroom into a mermaid theme a few months ago. The process was sooo much fun.

No wallpaper, eh? How about an oversized wall mural (http://muralsuperstore.com/catalog/coral_reef_wall_mural.htm)? Is 10' x 8' too big? ;)

Were you pleased with the final result? And what mattress did you choose? I'm looking for a good one.

I went with a mattress from MorningSave. It's been great so far—comfortable and affordable. The company offers good deals on quality mattresses, and their customer service is solid too. Also, MorningSave reviews (https://morningsave.pissedconsumer.com/review.html) were positive. Definitely check them out if you're still deciding!
