so its official I'm depressed
things are just going wrong left and right.

my school's LGBT club officially declined my mermaid appearance at this fall's little shin dig.
i was told that a mermaid wasn't really a the kind of thing that people would want to see. it was too flashy and too flamboyant

then my crush pretty much told me i wasn't worth his time or effort.
oh did i also mention that my birthday is this Sunday and that i'm most likely gonna be spending it in bed...alone.

i don't have the energy or drive to do anything. i was really looking forward to the little merman august contest thing and now i'm kinda just... i don't really care anymore.

i'm not posting this cause i'm looking for sympathy or anything or because i i'm looking for attention
in all honestly i don't know why i'm posting this. I've just kinda been the type to write how i feel and since i trust and adore a good portion of the Mernetwork community I'm just kinda doing... well hell i'm don't even know why i'm doing it or what i'm talking about i guess i'm just venting.

I want you to realize that you are AWESOME!!!! If your crush told you mean things like that then hes not worth it and he doesn't deserve you. If they declined your mermaid appearance make them wish they would have and show your awesome tail somewhere else, and you don't have to spend your birthday alone :D you can spend it with us (mernetwork). If life isn't being so kind to you grab it by the horns and tell it "YOUR GONNA DO THIS AND YOUR GONNA DO IT NOW!!!" I hope you feel better :D

It's never good to feel that way, but of course we all go through it from time to time and it SUCKS!!! To keep it all water themed, when it rains...it pours :( The best thing I can recommend is a good cool swim, something warm and soothing to drink, and a good cry with a sappy movie...lettin' all that salt water out. Hope things turn around and that you reclaim your mer self soon

I'm not sure about your school's LGBT, but I have to wonder about one that turns down something as too flashy and flamboyant... they're probably not getting into the spirit of things and instead trying to fit in. It's an understandable, if "easy-way-out-ish" position.

Having a crush mistreat you or turn you down is... well, crushing, particularly since you've invested so much energy into the dream of them. I've found that a good way of getting over it is trying something new, going out with friends (or making new friends) and maybe doing something different. Maybe try a new hobby, or a way of being creative, like drawing, sketching, sculpting, painting, or singing (I've found karaoke to be a nice release of feelings).

Sometimes when you don't have energy to do anything (and I've felt like this a lot, particularly over the past year since I've been unemployed) I've found that the best thing to do is to build your own energy... the emotional momentum of putting yourself out there even when you feel like you don't have the drive is often what's needed to give you the right kind of push.

As for your birthday, I don't recommend spending it on the mernetwork (the mernetwork is awesome, but time spent in front of the computer isn't really satisfying, usually) or spending it in bed (unless you desperately need to catch up on sleep). Maybe treat yourself to something special, like a movie trip, new game, or night out... or maybe something like a Build-A-Bear workshop or one of those paint-your-own pottery places. Something out of the ordinary.

As for the merman fashion contest, it does look cool but I can understand how these events would erode your enjoyment of it. Maybe suggest further merman fashion down the line when you do recover you inner balance?

Calypso... I know you said you're feeling it less and less, but I can't imagine it not being just who you are. Even if there are people who don't get that.

You've been dissappointed and hurt and you need time to recover. I find we merfolk tend to feel our emotions more strongly than the average person. So we need to take more time. I hope you're taking care of yourself.
