View Full Version : Wanting to buy Ariel shells!

I think this is the right place to post this...but I am looking to buy some Ariel style shells to attach to a bra.

They don't have to be painted or anything, but I just can't use real shells anymore, so I'm looking for something a little more like what Traci Hines and the when-Ariel-had-a-tail at the theme parks kind of top.

See...I'm not too well-endowed and real shells just don't work for my build, but I want to have an Ariel look at a friend's pirate festival this coming October. The only ones that look good so far are well over $200! Granted, they are BEAUTIFUL, but I can't swing that just now, as I just bought a house. I can spend money, I just don't want to pay THAT much just now....

Any crafty mers out there have any other options for me? Also, I've never done resin casting (which is what those shells are, aren't they?) and I have no clue if that is just the right price range for something like that or not.

Any help, options or other suggestions would be very much welcome and appreciated! Thank you!

I have some plastic shells still for sale (10 euro + p&p a set) as I bought them from a shop that closed. I use the same shells for all my tops, just takea look in my gallery ;)

Those are lovely, MermaidFenecia, but they're not exactly what I was looking for. I'm looking for something shaped a little more like this:
5627

(Isn't Traci the perfect Ariel?)

Not exactly like that, of course, but see how the shape is more rounded? It lends the illusion of being busty without actually being so; real shells or plastic shells shaped like real shells just don't do that in my experience and I'm always left looking less chest-y...like normal. :$

I could make them for you if you like. :$

SilverSiren, you are an angelfish, and if you could do that so I could have a pair by October, I would be in Heaven and praising your name all the way to Atlantis and beyond!!!

My sister told me they're resin...is that what you'd use?

Also...what sort of price range would you think...the ones for $200+ would kill me at the moment...:$ I mean, I have money to buy these, don't get me wrong, but I've still got to buy a styled wig as well. Also, I just need the shells. They don't even have to be painted or decorated or anything...just finished enough for me to paint, decorate, and add to the best push-up bra I can find as soon as they get here. LOL

Sooo...if it really would cost $90+ to buy shells like that, even undecorated and without being already attached to a bra base, then I may just have to figure something else out...you can tell me and I won't feel bad. I'll just know that my Ariel was meant for next year's festival. :)

The shells at my gallery are the finished shelltops. ;-) You can see the unfinished shells at my tutorial on my webside ;-) Direct link to that tutorial: http://users.telenet.be/the-mermaid/tutoral/schelptopje/sheltop01e.htm
