Help! What should I use for making a homemade tail that has a traditional fluke and looks somewhat real?

first thing you should do is look at the thread that has all the info from this forum compiled on it, then if your question isnt already answered there ask more specific ones here. http://mernetwork.com/index/showthread.php?2633-%E2%98%86%E2%9A%A0TAILMAKING-REFERENCE-INDEX%E2%9A%A0%E2%98%86-Look-here-BEFORE-you-post-any-questions!

What kind of tail are you going for? Silicone? (most realistic) Latex? (Realistic) Fabric? (Not as realistic as latex or silicone but it's pretty and flowy in the water.)

my first thought was to make it out of fabric but with my monofin and rubber fluke at the end so it looks the most realistic fluke than just flowy material...i don't have a lot of money but my problem is that most of the flukes i have see on fabric tails are just not as whimsical as the dolphin flukes on most silicone or latex tails. anyways to make that happen with fabric? and what kind of paint is best for fabric in water?

I think the forum likes using Jacquard's Lumiere Paints on fabric tails.
