View Full Version : Blue Mermaid Designs Selling Magictails For Profit?
So, i was surfing random mermaid websites and i came across a site called Blue Mermaid Designs. It was a simple looking site with mermaids for hire, i also then saw their MER-chandise page. Interested, i checked it out. The first thing i saw was a picture of a girl in a magictail and below was this:
Swim tails are made from a special scale print, high elastic swimsuit fabric. (20% Lycra, 80% Polyester). They come in 5 different colors and 3 sizes. Included is the matching swim top and mono-fin. Inside the tail is a plastic mono-fin with a pocket for your feet, which will help you swim through the water with ease. It is made from plastic, and has a natural elastic rubber for the feet. After removing the monofin, the tail is washable at 80 °F.
Swim tails are made on demand, therefore, there will take some time for you to receive your order. It is usually much sooner, but it could take up to 12 weeks to get your swim tail.
NOTE: Since this is hand made upon ordering, there are no refunds for any reason.
It looks like they are selling MagicTails for about twice the price, saying that they are hand made upon ordering and on demand (not true on the real Magictail website), and no refunds.
I'm quite confused... are Magictail and Blue Mermaid working together? I dont see much sense in that though cause of the prices and such...
I urge you to check out the website and take a look for yourself.
sorry if i'm sounding superstitious and all, just wondering what is going on cause i'm a fan of MagicTails.

Blue mermaid is Alasea the blue mermaid. If im not mistaken she has a contract with magictails to sell them
She does? that's odd because they are about two times more than the real Magictail... but ok

Ummmmm........okay then. It IS Alasea, but seriously? Mine was a small, for approx. $160. Those are $220 for a small. That's still ripping people off

I was gonna say, that's her signature GIF on the homepage. But somethings not right. If she has a contract to sell, why are they double the price?
Exactly what i was thinking, Ayla! Even if they do work together, it just doesnt make any sense because information on the tails are different on the two sites.

how about asking Alasea instead of speculating and gossping. Blue mermaid = alasea... she's right here on mernetwork... and easily contacted on FB. She's been selling these as long as I've known her and she's friends with many tail makers. She's incredibly kind, so I really wish people wouldn't jump to conclusions that are the worst of people. I know we've had a hard time in the community with certain people and fake tail makers, but let's try not to be so paranoid.

Alasea is also the person responsible for running www.mermaidtails.net and www.mermaidtales.net

I messaged her on Etsy yesterday, she was really nice. She said she does have an agreement with Kirsten to sell them and doesn't make much profit at all. You should contact her, Kal.

I'm sorry. I wasnt paranoid, and i wasnt gossiping either, just asking a question. but i guess stuff just comes out wrong over internet discussions. I would have asked her personally, but i am kind of shy and i didnt know what she would say if it did somehow happen to be fraud. (which i completely understand is not) I decided to ask you guys cause you are all nice and helpful and i can always get real answers. If you are reading this Alasea, i was just curious, that's all. I hope i didnt make a bad first impression and i am sorry if things were taken the wrong way. :)

Hey everyone! I'm so sorry for all the misunderstanding!! I hope everyone knows I would never, ever do something illegal, dishonest, or rip anyone off. I got permission a long time ago to be a re-seller for the tails. Companies like re-sellers because it helps them sell more. I'm sorry if it got confused with those fake sites!! I may have to figure out a way to be sure that doesn't happen again! Just to re-assure everyone: I am not charging double the price, I added my costs, including payment processing fees and re-shipping. After all that, I don't make very much! I mainly did it as a convenience to my clients, until I get my own tails added.
I hope this clears everything up. :)

I guess I don't understand why you're selling the tails for more? Wouldn't someone rather go to the website and get it cheaper that way? That's all I was wondering about. :)

you're essentially paying the convenience of having it ship from closer- less shipping time, conversion from euro, shipping costs. It's a re-sell!
