Where do I look for the beginner questions? And is there a work of fiction about mer-persons?

there are plenty of threads for beginners, a lot of us are new haha. are you looking more for recreational mermaiding or professional?
as for fiction, theres a great book called the cerulean isle (http://www.amazon.com/Cerulean-Isle-G-M-Browning/dp/1937178099). i downloaded it free for the kindle (which i downloaded onto my ipod). i would say its worth it if youre into pirates as well as merfolk, and even though there isnt a lot of merfolk until the end, it is an INCREDIBLE read. other than that, im sure theres more, i just havent read a lot of them, haha.

here (http://mernetwork.com/index/showthread.php?1994-Getting-in-and-out-of-tails)is a good one on how to get your tail on and off, and theres a discussion in it about how to get from where you put on the tail to the swimming area.
here (http://mernetwork.com/index/showthread.php?2268-Cold-water-swimming)is a thread on swimming in colder waters.
and this section (http://mernetwork.com/index/forumdisplay.php?44-Freediving-amp-Snorkeling)is about freediving and snorkeling. when you are mermaiding, its considered "freediving", so thats where a lot of things will be, such as breath holding techniques, equalizing, etc. also, a lot of things are listed in this section (http://mernetwork.com/index/forumdisplay.php?34-Tail-Swimming) as well.

i havent yet seen a thread about swimming with a pet, but perhaps you could make one! (:

i hope this helps :D

I have a novel out with Merfolk in it (The Accidental Mermaid, less than $4.oo on Kindle or Nook) I'm currently working on two more. There are other good Mer authors here as well (Nate Walis comes to mind). There ara also popular books like Lost Voices. Lots of good mer stuff to read if you look. Enjoy!

I would start out by looking in the tailmakers reviews if you are in the market. (or there are bajillions of threads on diy) Then I would go through the swimming tips and tricks threads. It really just depends on what it is you want to accomplish in the mer world. But trust me, this site has EVERYTHING you'll need. Welcome!

I would like to see a CSI about mers or a mystery written about us. I love reading the back story, you get so much more info. If you are not a professional mer, why would you spend in the 4 digits for a tail? Does any one wear a tail for extended times? What are the problems doing that?

i LOVE shows like csi, i watch a bunch of ncis and burn notice. that would probably be really cool.
well, im not a professional mermaid, but i hope to be one day, and i plan to buy a tail from raven in a few years. but even if im not professional, ill probably still buy one from her. its just so beautiful and worth it. stevi from fish butts, her work is worth money too, she is incredible.
i know that some modeling shoots can last HOURS, but i dont think there would be any problems unless something didnt fit correctly (footpockets too small, tail too tight/loose, etc).

Are you going to be in the entertainment industry? I haven't thought of anything else that turns a dime. Any ideas?
