So as I get to know all of you more personally I get so excited when I find people with similar interests and talents. I know a lot of mernetworkers are singers. I was wondering who out there is a musician/singer and if you have any videos/sound bites to share?

When I was 18-21 I did music professionally. I recorded a very modest album, did some touring, and got to meet some famous Canadian musicians! I got out of it though and I gotta say, I have nowhere near the ability I used to have haha ^.^ I sing for fun now at karaoke or occasionally with my friends bands. IN high school I was in a punk band and played electric guitar and sang, then when I was on my own it was more folk.

Anyway, I don't have any recent recordings that are any good despite recently purchasing some recording gear. I'm hoping to get back into it (I'm actually going to fiddle around today). I have done a lot of my own song writing and music composition, but I do a lot of unique covers. I recently re-discovered my old youtube account which has YEARS of sub-par recordings hahaha. I use to record a song the second I wrote it and put it on youtube! I wanted feedback and to share it with my friends and fellow musicians so they could write additional pieces. So the stuff I'm about to share is in no way representatives of my current abilities (or lack their of) ... but it's kind of neat to go back in time and check it out. Some of it's embarrassing but still entertaining and funny so I thought I'd share!

There's that one time 5 years ago I did a cover of a Japanese song from Final Fantasy X complete with terrible pronounced Japanese language... XD

I was just a kid but I had no problem walking into bars with people 2-3 times my age and being the only girl and the youngest one performing lol

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qft3nrm6Q-o&feature=plcp

I ALWAYS cover songs by men. I derno why, I just don't enjoy a lot of music by women and the stuff I do isn't exactly easy to play on guitar. So I am forever transposing songs by men to be in my key and messing around with them. This is soooo old, but a perfect example

and then this one is only 2 years old (only ha!) but I still like it. :3

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uxm_1o1TzFs&feature=plcp

and finally, an original that for some reason seems kinda popular on youtube when I think it's one of my worst recordings hahaha XD

NOW SHOW ME YOURS! Or link to websites that have your music! <3

Hmm... I think that one of my friends might've filmed me at karaoke once, but aside from that (and some chorus roles in musicals back in high school) I don't have any musical talents. The only instruments I ever wanted to learn were the glass armonica (except then one of the creepiest jerks of my middle school teachers claimed they cause nerve damage) and the pan pipes (I have two of them, and even found some music for them... except I can't read music).

Meeee!!! I've been a muso since I was very young. I'm now a music teaching - I teach voice, flute, clarinet, sax and piano and conduct a choir. I love it.

I used to be lead singer/keys player for a blues/jazz/classic rock/everything else band, and my pride and joy was a 5-person acappella group that just broke up a few months ago, sadly.

Also, *shameless plug time*, our album can be listened to here: http://bluenotion.bandcamp.com/ We did a lot of the recording and production work on it ourselves, I am so freaking proud of it :)

I am thinking, we need to record a song together. Use some free program we can all have access to like audacity, and share the files between us and record! <3

Along those ideas, I had an idea where each of us sang a line from a from (maybe "Rolling in the Deep" to play on the "deep" theme) and linked it together as a youtube video.

okay guys, i got a few videos recorded. theyre unlisted, so you can only see them with the link soooo, HERE THEY ARE lol.
let me explain my rambling in these videos. they were made for my Finnish friend (who, by the way, said that most of my Finnish was almost perfect for someone who doesnt speak it), so when i talk, im telling him things. he also wanted to hear my normal voice, so thats why i say something about "this is what i usually sound like". lol.

Herr Mannelig cover (original by Haggard). this song is in italian, which i dont speak, so i apologize to all the italian merfolk for my probably horrendous pronunciation. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=66Hc_9O55sc
Stargazers cover (original by Nightwish). http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q7TeJJmNXiI
* BOTH OF THESE VIDEOS ARE UNLISTED, so you can only see them with the link (: FEEL SPECIAL lol.

SOOOOOO, thats what i sound like. sorry im so awkward when i sing xD
if anyone who speaks italian could give me some feedback, that would be GREAT. <3

SO I knew I had a thread in here somewhere for this!!!!

I recently got a new recording program and I was messing around trying to learn the ropes. I don't know how to mix for crap. So my levels aren't equal, but I transposed this song, wrote some harmonies, and we-wrote the ending vocal wise. It's a cover of "Skinny Love" by Bon Iver. dropped down with piano. Anyway IT'S REALLY ROUGH and pitchy, but just for fun, for now. I've realized mixing music is a lot like trying to merge layers on a photo in photoshop lol

You can download it at this link, you don't need to install dropbox. https://www.dropbox.com/sh/0e2rmzrzfigc4e5/gKPG_U2MBa

Also, for anyone who missed it, my goofy guitar cover of The Little Mermaid...

I used to be able to play clarinet. ATM I sing for fun. My mertender/boyfriend plays guitar, piano, and flute so while he played I'd sing for fun. I sing a wide variety of songs but I like singing songs from kamelot an phantom of the opera... And Sweeney Todd and the little mermaid , evanescence, tokio hotel, linkin park, late night alumni... Classic elv

I play piano and am learning to play ukulele. I have no recordings because I suck at recording myself.

Not a musician but I do own several pendant ocarinas, a full length electronic piano and a lyre harp.

Of them all, the lyre harp is my absolute fave. The notes from it are heavenly!

I primarily play bass guitar along with a little regular guitar and some drums. Would love to learn the bagpipes.

Raina, I adore the Skinny Love mix you made! Something otherworldly about it.

I love singing and play a bit of guitar and violin and am more proficient on the keyboard and cornet.

As silver dawn arises and the land is set to sleep,
The merfolk pursue ever on with promises to keep--

Water be steady, air be sure,
Follow your heart, but above all,
Endure.

Hey! As I know, the notes on the piano can be found anywhere online very simply. The basic notes of the piano can be found online, a simple google search will show you which notes are which one a piano. Good luck!

I don't know or I can call myself a musician, but I've been playing the piano for a very long time, ever since I went to school. I used to go to concerts in different countries and I think I was really great at it! I even bought myself a new piano on this site https://steinway.co.uk/pianos/c/exotic-wood-pianos/ . I think it's quite exotic and unusual. It may be useful to you.

Playing music, whether it's singing, playing an instrument, or composing, offers a wide range of physical, emotional, cognitive, and social benefits. Here are some of the key advantages of playing music:

1. Enhances Cognitive Abilities: Playing music involves complex mental processes, such as reading sheet music, recognizing patterns, and coordinating multiple actions simultaneously. It has been linked to improved memory, concentration, and problem-solving skills.

2. Emotional Outlet and Stress Relief: Music provides a means of emotional expression. Whether you're playing an instrument or singing, it can help you release emotions, reduce stress, and promote relaxation.

3. Boosts Memory and Learning: Learning to play music requires memorization of notes, chords, and melodies. Regular music practice can improve overall memory and retention of information, which can extend to other areas of life as well.

Playing an instrument involves using both hands and sometimes your feet in a coordinated manner. This can enhance fine motor skills and overall coordination.
