Hello, everyone!

I am not a mermaid yet, except in my mind. I saved money to buy a tail because I'm totally unable to make one. I've always loved mermaids since I read the story by Hans Christian Andersen. Unfortunately, even if I loved water and I could swim I was afraid and I didn't like swimming lessons in school because I almost drowned when I was little. I liked to swim during my free time and I used to swim with the legs together as if I was a dolphin or if I had a fish tail. I always said that it was the dolphin's or mermaid's swimming.

I live in France, near the Pyrenees mountains and a bit far from the sea or the ocean, but I have lakes, rivers and swimming pools.

I had a nasty experience as a kid as well, that put me off swimming for many, many years. It's really awesome that you're conquering this anxiety and giving the tail a go. I'm sure you'll love it!

I hope so. I just have one problem. I don't know where to mermaiding. In France people look at you as if you were a fool when you tell them that you want to be a mermaid. They think it is children stories. And I don't have pool.
How did you conquer your own anxiety about water?
