I JUST CAN'T DO IT!

Right, here is my problem, and it's driving me straight into insanity.... I can't crochet! I know, seems trivial, but I'm the artistic type that can learn to do ANYTHING! I easily pick up every art technique I choose. Yes, I am definitely bragging, I have a right to, it's the one thing I LOVE about myself and believe its my best quality. I can do my art forms with precise quality, as if I had been doing it for longer than I have been on this earth, even if I just picked it up! Sculpt, paint with any manner of mediums, make molds, work with resin, work with silicone, use an airbrush, dance, play the piano, advanced origami, accomplished seamstress... see were I'm going with this? lol. But crochet keeps eluding me. Crochet, of all the simple things! WWWHYYYYYYYYYYYY?!!!!!!! It's driving me mad. :headwall:

So, for the first time in YEARS, I am asking for help to learn a new art form. I will even "pay" the person who actually helps me the most by sending them a crochet item made by me! That's right, for any Mer who can teach me to crochet, I will send them a crocheted gift as a thank you! So, who can teach me to crochet?

I am a visual learner, so anything I can watch or have some sort of clear visual picture of, I can learn.... which is why I cerealy suck at math. lol.

Ok, I got it. I dunno why but it finally clicked after a year of trying off and on. Now I have crocheted 15 granny squares.... think I'm gonna make a blanket.;)

Bravo! I'm actually the same - I'm a knitter, cross stitcher, embroiderer, occasional dabbler in quilting but crochet... nope. Just can't figure it out :P You give me hope! :D

If I can do it so can you! Just like someone said on a forum for crochet, one day, it just clicked. It is definitely a pain in the butt though! This (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=79zZJjXRfSM) is the video I watched. The lady goes so so slow, so it's hard to miss anything, and the camera is CLEAR so you can actually see what she is doing! lol. It took me about 3 tries to get it right but I did. One note I can make, at the beginning, when she does the chain, she only chains 4, chain 10 instead! It makes it much easier cause the hole it leaves is bigger and you don't lose place of it, plus, the larger hole in the middle of the square just looks nicer to me too.
