The Best Competitor Monofin Brand?

Hey! I am looking into buying a competitor monofin.

I was just wondering what brand is the best and why?

I understand all the variables to account for, foot pocket comfort, durability, rubber edges, pocket visibility, material ect. I recognize people might have varying opinions, and I would love to hear everyone's preference!

You mean fiberglass monofin, correct? Just clarifying since the "Competitor Monofin" is the name of the fiberglass monofin made by Finis Inc. Making sure people don't get confused!

To my knowledge, there aren't many mers out there who have swam with more than one brand of fiberglass monofin. Less who own more than one brand. So it's kind of hard to get any kind of personal comparison from people. If you want that, I'd say go on the finswimming forums. These people are all about finswimming (with fiberglass fins) and can give very specific answers.

There are certainly many different brands and kinds of fiberglass fins. You can look on the official monofin thread (the sticky) for a article (by Finswimmer Magazine) with all the manufacturers. Because Finis Inc is the only US based monofin manufacturer, they are the most popular in North America. They are also one of the few who make recreational (polyethelene) monofins, which is the more popular and more affordable fin for mermaiding. However finswimming and freediving is not very popular here, especially compared to the massive amount of people who are passionate and competitive with it in the rest of the world. Finis Inc is hardly known to these people and they aren't considered to be a good option for monofins.

By reputation, I've heard good thing about SpecialFins, LeaderFins, GlideFins. But I don't know many people who are serious about finswimming either :/ Even though Finis isn't great by serious finswimmer standards, and is over priced, I hear great things about them from mers who own them. I swam with one once and I thought it was awesome!

Perhaps you may have more luck hearing from mermaids who live in/are from Europe.
