I posted this in the review section, but frankly, I'm kind of mad and need to vent.

Oooooooookay. So, I ordered this top on Etsy about a month ago from Emily Angelfish's store after I asked her if it would fit a thirteen-year-old and received this email back:

http://www.etsy.com/images/email/spacer.gifHello!! It surely should fit a thirteen year old. The straps can all be tied tighter..shells together, etc. I sell so many of them to adults as well as teens, and mothers making costumes. Can also be worn upside down or on angles like the little mermaid. Have a great evening!! Emily

I waited three weeks, and it finally arrived on the 27th. I ecstatically opened the box to find...a top twice or maybe even three times the size I needed. I thought it looked a little big when I took it out of the box, but thought it could work, so I tried it on. It was far from functional. Although I tied it very tightly, the shells themselves were much too big. The edges where the shells curve inwards pushed against my skin, and left marks. I wanted to spend the last of my savings on something useful and stylish to go with my tail, but without satisfaction. Most of all, I'm upset that Emily told me it could work, instead of being honest and letting me know they were too big. I have nothing against Emily, she makes great tails and other things, but complete honesty is important.

Did you tell her your size when you told her your age? At thirteen I had a larger cup size than most people my age, but my friend had an almost flat chest. I knew another girl at that point who was almost a D cup. Perhaps instead of asking if the top would fit someone your age, you should have asked about sizes.

On the other hand, I don't know why she didn't just ask you what your size was herself. It seems to me that it should have been the default answer. She mentions that you can tighten the string, but that only helps for band size.

How about returns?

I was at my dad's house when I sent it, so I couldn't get my cup size, but I told her I was a small-framed thirteen year old. But I don't think the size would matter anyway, for any thirteen year old, because it looked like it was for someone at least 18 or so.

Well, I can't remember my Etsy account so I can't message her back, so... ._.

I'm sorry this happened :\ But I think it would of been helpful to say you cup size. So I agree with ShyMer. You can just measure you chest with measuring tap and use a bra calculator to give you the cup size.

Im sorry :( Thats to bad.

Whats ridiculous is, if I'm correct, I bought the same type of top but white at the DOLLAR STORE and then painted mine, but as a sort of joke not for functional use. It is cheap and plastic so it does cut into your skin.
So sorry! D:

Yeah, I got one of her shell tops too, and I was not impressed. They only really work if you have big enough breasts, so they don't push into your sides. On the other hand, I have one of her tails, and it is absolutely AMAZING!

The top looks lovely though and matches your tail.
Maybe you'll grow into it!

You can also try to add some padding, so the fit is better and the edges don't hurt you.

These shells look similar to the ones I used on my top. I sewed them to a bra base using dental floss. Maybe that would work? They are pretty :)

I bought a set of these at a party store for $3. I'm a DD, and I find it hard to wear just by itself. I painted it, and plan to attach mine to a bra base and decorate around it with greenery because it's impossible to find natural shells to fit my bust size
