It's that time of the year again Mer's. It's October and Halloween is coming up. I personally love Halloween and it's my favorite time of year because, despite my near crippling fear of the dark, I love to be frightened! Horror movies are great but nothing gets me in a "Omg, I almost had a heart attack" mood than being a part of the action! So, I will be updating this thread as frequently as possible with the best horror games I can find! I will personally play them myself and give you a review on just how scary it is and post the link where you can go play them yourselves and let me know... how scared did you get?

First up on the list is... Which.

A small adventure type game where you point and click to find a few key (literately) items to progress further into the game. I would give this a 6 out of 10 on the scare factor, it has a "something is following me and if I look back it will eat me" feeling. One note I can give is that this game has two possible endings depending on how good your detective skills are! Download Which to your PC or laptop here (http://gamejolt.com/games/adventure/which/1523/) and let me know what you think! I will post the next game in a couple days so keep looking back here for more scares cause I will be posting them in order of least to most scary!

Speaking of Halloween, has anyone thought of making a tail that's Halloween-inspired or is based off of something? I've been thinking about a TARDIS-themed tail for a while, but really, when besides Halloween will I ever use it? :P

There is a thread discussing this topic already http://mernetwork.com/index/showthread.php?3105-Halloween-s-coming-up-soon&highlight=halloween :)

I don't know if anyone is interested in these but I'll keep up with them anyway. Here is your next game. It probably should have been put up first in terms of scare factor, it's more fun than scary. It's a chose your own adventure type game you can play on YouTube! Make the right choices or suffer the zombie hoard!

Thank you, I will. Most of the games I am posting are only 15 mins long, one I will post will take a couple hours, and others will be even shorter. Both the games I posted so far are really short, so maybe you can find a little time to squeeze one in :) All are free-to-play too!

Oh I almost forgot- I did play this one the other night. It's not too scary, but the atmosphere is nice and there's a creepy black thing with eyes stalking you. Haven't taken the time to finish it yet, but I enjoyed it so far.

Also this one isn't scary, but it's a different concept. I do feel kinda bad for sending my guys against the zombie hordes though. Yay for upgrades!

Next up on my list is Cellar Door. It is a little heart pounding but mostly jump scare, you also have a sense of panic as you must find all the marbles (not easy) before your time runs out.

I give it a 7 out of 10 on the scare rating. Do you really want to know whats behind the Cellar Door? Play it here (http://www.gameshot.org/?id=6869).

I apologize for any Mer's who where following this and wondered why I hadn't updated. I have been really ill the past few days but I feel a LOT better today so I thought I would post the next free scary game. I hope people are playing these games, it shows interest and support of indie game developers and encourages them to make bigger better faster version of these games! For any big gamers out there, show your support to indie game developers, even if you don't want to play any of these that I post, there are many more games of all genres on all platforms both paid for and free!

Right, now onto the next free game! The House 1&2. I give it an 8 out of 10 on scariness. Mostly full of jump scares on the first edition but on the second edition it gets you more on edge!

Thanks for sharing! I know what hubs and I are doing this weekend now. :) I cant wait to pop some popcorn and play these (and consequently toss the popcorn on the floor from jumping).

Wait till I bring out the big guns :D I have a game I will post soon that is a 10 out of 10, scary enough that I can't play it all the way through... mostly due to the fact I watched a lot of horror "movies" about it and read about it too much before hand and freaked myself out, lol. I'll post the vids and reading material with it so you can pee yourself too! lol.

Glad you liked it! House 2 is a bit more scary, though I tend to be a little annoyed that it's based off of how many times you repeatedly click on something, so it gets a tad tiresome, but then again it makes you get into a state of not being on edge so that when something does pop up in your face you almost punch the computer screen in terror. lol

My final game for this thread! The scariest of them all. A 10 out 0f 10. It's a very simple and low graphic game and all you have to do is walk around in the dark collecting 8 pages... but someone is stalking you... something. Slender is the scariest indie game I have ever played. Though the thing stalking you is not really all that scary LOOKING its the thought of it, the best description is that this thing is the embodiment of fear. Turn out the lights, put in some headphones and let the game send chills down your spine.

Download Slender: The Eight Pages here (http://www.parsecproductions.net/slender/) just click on the version you would like, it will take you to a page were the download can be had. This company is also developing a upgraded Alpha version of the game so be sure to check that out too.

If you want to REALLY freak yourself out try learning more about the thing that is Slenderman before you play the game... then watch something happy to make your heart stop beating out of your chest. You can watch well done youtube video blogs too (in the style of vlogs so be sure to watch them IN ORDER or they wont make sense!) the best so far are: EveryManHybrid (http://www.youtube.com/user/everymanhybrid?feature=results_main), TribeTwelve (http://www.youtube.com/user/tribetwelve?feature=results_main) and MarbleHornets (http://www.youtube.com/user/marblehornets?feature=results_main). The concept of Slenderman is becomeing so popular that a film student got the backing from kickstarter to make a FREE to view Slenderman movie that is due out this year, here (http://www.facebook.com/pages/The-Slender-Man-Movie/257224091055041) is the facebook page if you want to stay updated.

Happy Halloween everymer!

I actually didn't enjoy the House games- I found myself more annoyed that i had to just keep clicking on various parts, hoping it would finally do something. The jump outs weren't that scary for me either, it seemed pretty typical for games like that.

I've been thinking about playing the slender game, I've heard it's pretty good.

I did mention it could get a bit annoying. You should try the Slender game, it seems to scare most people, even my not easy to scare hubby. After you get used to the concept though it becomes a frustrating race to get all the pages!
