These fish have been one of my favorites for a long time. I forget the name right now, but I think they're a mandarin fish. I used to have a pair of them, and they were SO cool. I want to design a tail with the colorations and patterns, but I'm a terrible artist. =\ If anyone has any suggestions or help, or even the time to make an example or something, I'd really appreciate it.6981

I'm working on improving my art skills, so it probably won't look amazing or anything :/ but I love drawing, and one can only improve right?

Gorgeous fish. Mind if I give it a go too? Probably going to be stuck in bed a few days, not doing too well at the moment. Would give me something to do

Wow. That's just...so pretty. I love it so much. The colors blended well and the fin looks so much like the actual fish and everything. And I really appreciate the offer! I'll look into my cash and stuff, haha. :)

Thank you guys. <3 I love designing, this was an awesome thing to stumble on in my time of random. Emma is going to have half a dozen choices to pick from and combine into what she loves!

I actually made a Mandarin Dragonet tail recently - there should be a couple of photos on my page :P I was going to put fins on it but I was pushed for time so I couldn't. My next tail will be the same, but made by someone better at tailmaking than me :P

MerEmma

Koral, I've finally decided that I really, really like yours. Does anyone recommend a tailmaker for making a design like that? Pretty sure it wouldn't be a fabric tail. xD

Koral

Aww thank you! :) I'm so glad you liked it.

FishButts can do a latex version of is for $345 and under, depending the fin used. You could use finis rapid/wave for that design very very efficiently, which is $230 for wave, and $280 for rapid (those two fins merely depend on shoe size, and as a result also fin size). Stevie is great at custom work, but she isn't taking orders right yet, as her plate is quite full.

There is also Merberry Tails, they use finis wave monofins. I don't know much about their work or anything, however. These are $450, and she is likely open right now. :)

There are more on this page, (http://mernetwork.com/index/content.php?133-mermaid-tailmakers) so go have a look if those don't suit your fancy.

I've seen that page a good deal, hehe. On my most visited sites. :p I really like Merberry and will probably end up contacting her, as I like her tails a bit more than fish-butts. Thanks so much, again!

Welcome! When you leave Merberry Tails a review, I would love to read it through and learn more about her tails. :)

Yeah, same. I really want more information on latex, as I'm a lot more informed on silicone/fabric tails than latex... :\ About to find/make a thread on that right now, actually.

You can make your own liquid latex substitute with white glue. Mix the glue with water, then add some coloring for whatever effect you're going for. Real liquid latex contains rubber or synthetic rubber, and needs talc to put the items on. You can find more information here: http://www.helium.com/items/311906-how-t… (http://www.helium.com/items/311906-how-to-make-a-liquid-latex-mold)

Koral that design is fantastic! I love your drawing style & your vision! I hope you design more tails & post for us to see :)

Koral

Thank you Sirena! I've been thinking of a couple ideas. One; a white background public use version of my base for others to print and color over or take into a computer program to color over. Two; release weekly designs of mermaid tails from all sorts of fish for all mermaids to use as design bases for those wanting a fish-inspired tail. I would also open commentary as to what kind of fish people would like to see next. Just a couple ideas I have been pondering. But I need to settle in to my apartment first - almost moved in fully!

Oh lord moving is a big deal & think both of those idea's sound wonderful. You could start your own thread and have the base be in the first post :)

Sounds like a plan then. :)
