Don't plan! I've found that it is wayyy easier to wing it all, lol. I just figure out my plot and general direction. I've won it twice, and this is my third time. I did the summer one in August and I'm planning to go to a kickoff in my area either the 29th or November 14th.

Yea! I was wondering if anyone in the community participated. I'm going in for my 6th year (won 4)! I agree with MerEmma! I try not to plan too much, either.

Hi! I wasn't able to do it the last two years because I have too much work at college, but I'm considering trying it this year with a lower wordcount goal (I am just too busy to have time to do the full 50k) so I can still participate! I did it every year of high school, and won all but my first attempt. So fun!
NO idea what I'm going to write about though... and sadly I do need some sort of plan for it myself, heh. Just a rough outline at least.

Basically, you attempt to write a 50,000 word novella in 30 days! It's in November. It's lots of fun! You can read more about it on their site--http://nanowrimo.org

Soooo, anyone else started? :D
I work best late at night, so I'm still counting today as day 2. Current wordcount is 3048--almost up to quota for today!

Hah! I have an economics paper due in a few days on the economis of human trafficking, and a thesis I should be working on. On top of that I have like 16 essays to write for other classes. If I had the time I'd love to do this though. Maybe next year. I know a few people who are participating. It sounds like it'd be a lot of fun.

Any of you mers doing NaNoWriMo 2013? Mers who write together stay together! My story isn't exactly about mer (more along the lines of young adult androids, LOL), but I'd love to be NaNoWriMo buddies!

I am! I am at 2727 words, and still working. Last year I wrote a dystopian novella, and then chickened out at about 10,000 words. I'm determined this year! I would LOVE to be writing buddies. Search my username, PinkLloyd.

I'm doing it too, last minute idea. almost didn't do it because I have a super busy month but I decided against it. I'm at 3800 words, ish. I'd normally share my story but this time it's extra special so I think I might keep it under wraps this year. Not sure if I'll be happy with what I finish with buuuuut I haven't written really at all since last year, so. o_o'

NaNoWriMo is a bit daunting, for my schedule. Still, I may give the Dark Crystal Author Ques (http://www.darkcrystal.com/authorquest.php)t a go.

I am writing a YA sci fi dystopia about a world where people use 'avadroids' (humanoid robots who are technically cyborgs, but I don't think anyone cares that there's a difference, lol) to game, connecting their minds to the avadroids' bodies. The main character, Marsi Winstroke, aka 'Rocket', was in a serious accident and lost both her legs and was paralyzed from the neck down. Her father, a robotics engineer who helps design avadroids, used cybernetic flesh, superplast exoskeleton, and an electronic nervous system so that she could walk. When the story starts, she is miserable, and trying to break into her father's lab to destroy her coding and, basically, kill herself, because she can barely walk and can't control her new parts. Also, she is hearing voices. She runs into an avadroid and starts learning to use her new body, as well as realizing that there is a lot more going on behind the scenes with the androids. Eventually she discovers that some of them are slowly infiltrating the world government by doing a sort of reverse mind meld, where they transfer THEIR consciousness into the humans. And so on and so forth. That's the loose plot, anyway. I'm 'seat of my pants' writing on this one. I just know there will be sexy android boys. You know you're a giant geek when you think a guy actually being a robot is really sexy.
