I live in Florida. Central Florida. My dad works as a fisherman and it's horrible. The wind is so cold, the air is so cold, we're just not used to it! The power was out for about five minutes earlier. The only thing I'm looking forward to is going to the beach and looking at all the stuff that washed up. Oh, and maybe when it's over!

I live in Southeastern PA, and we're talking about all the prep for the week, buying emergency generators, etc. We should be ok (the wind and flooding will be an issue, but aside from those, I'm not too worried) but still, it could go either way.

I'm in Nova Scotia, and right now our winds are insane as well as rain as Sandy moves up the east Coast. Our landlord just came around to ask us to make sure everything is in off our decks etc. Minor flooding in some areas. You might have seen a famous ship of ours was sunk, the HMS Bounty (used in POTC) 14 people went down, 12 were rescued, 1 died, and the captain is still missing.

We're getting wind and snow right now in Central Kentucky. That is one widespread storm.
For those who connect mermaids with pirates and pirates with tall masted sailing ships, we have lost kin.

Some wind and rain here in Mass. No power outage, or anything.
I found this on FB, while I know it could be posted in another section, I figured I'd stick it on the end here and it can be moved if needed. I just think it's funny. I didn't know that homosexuals where able to contol weather. Also all the gays I know clearly werent using their powers to the best of their ability then.. i mean, what gay man in their right mind allows the weather to ruin their hair if they can control it otherwise?!Christian preacher blames gays for Hurricane Sandy http://www.gaystarnews.com/article/christian-preacher-blames-gays-hurricane-sandy291012

Nothing happened in Florida. Things just got cold and windy.
@Elle - Wow.. Honestly, Christians are f**king retarded. I know not all of them believe gays are
bad and such but as all of their higher ups seem to be a retarded collective recently. I wish they'd
just shut up and pray or whatever it is they do all day -__-

Did you guys see how massive (http://i.imgur.com/3hFH4.jpg) this storm system is? I mean just look (http://i.imgur.com/uO8Tq.jpg) at this thing! Even Wisconsin got clipped by it. And they stopped calling it a hurricane after a while I guess, its now your choice between Superstorm, Frankenstorm, and Post Tropical Storm.

Elle - I did a Google search on 10/29 for "'Hurricane Sandy' punishment" and found an article indicating that it was God's punishment for the fact that global climate change was not discussed during the presidential debates.
I thought that I would have some fun tonight and do a Google search for "'Hurricane Sandy' divine retribution," and I found a WHOPPER dealing with the Westboro Baptist Church. It is so hideous that I think even the mere mention of it is dignifying the matter far more than it deserves. I won't share the link here.
There are some viewpoints in this world that are horrifying. It's one thing to have a disagreement, but it is another thing altogether to spew hatred.
I know, it's all a bit ridiculous honestly. You'd think they'd realise how silly they sound....
Apparently al'Qaida are now claiming responsibility and are threatening to send more storms and the like

From a Western Christian point of view, the statements attributed in this article seem to surpass the ridiculous and to delve deeply into the realm of mental illness, and while I would never defend the man's statements, I also have no concept whatsoever of his culture. Of course, it strains our credulity that anyone would ever believe him, but then, look at the Westboro Baptist Church, right here in the good old USA.
There is a Timeline on Facebook of which I became aware a few months ago, and that man - a private citizen with really loose security settings - would make me roll on the floor in hysterics if his hatred weren't so palpable.
Like I've said a million times, it's fine to have disagreements. I welcome intelligent discussions that provoke thought and motivate change, but there are some people on this Earth for whom all sense of reason has vanished. That is what keeps me awake at night.

You "know" a Christian by their love! Westboro does nothing but hate! Put 2+2 together and figure it out what they are!
Anyhow,
I just got back from a trip along the coast of Lake Michigan. Waves weren't too bad at Cave Point, but there were a few trees down in the park from the wind, And the water level is a good foot or more low. From Sturgeon Bay to Kewaunee, the waves weren't bad either, but the waves increased from Kewaunee to Manitowoc. There was a big ore boat anchored off Manitowoc harbor, and although not seeming to be taking waves, she was throttling up every so often to reduce strain on the anchors. Just saw news from Sheboygan and the waves were worse yet! (30mi south) The west edge of Sandy was visible all day as a clear patch low on the horizon.
The Bounty is an old boat, and from what it sounds, she spit her caulking and the pumps failed to keep up. Happened a lot on wooden sailing ships. There's a number of them on the bottom of the Lakes due to that cause. Hopefully she went down intact in a diveable depth. If she did, the masts might be sticking out marking her location.

I just hope that they may be able to resurrect the HMS BOUNTY from the depths on where she lies. But last night on the news (I live in upstate NY) they had said"8.5 million people were without power and 111 homes burnt to the ground. Not a very happy halloween for them.

It just hit us here full force, just in time for Halloween. A few trees have been uprooted and blown around my property. Lots of stormy weather, wind, thunder and lightning. Minimal flooding. Nothing we're not used to when we get bad storms! Just feel bad for the trick or treaters!

A Model Mayhem MUA was electrocuted by a downed power line during the storm. :(
Yeah, same here Raina! All the poor little ones :( I'm sure they did something special for Halloween though. It makes me so sad to see how destructive Sandy has gotten, and how it is affecting everyone in that region :(
