I have two different ways for you to be drawn!

1) I'm over at fiverr.com doing sketches mermaid sketches (also zombie, superhero and regular caricatures) where I draw people as if they were mermaids. Very basic inked drawings/sketches for $5 or add a background for another $5 or some basic didgital color for $5. That's kind of how the site is set up. While I can't send you the original paper drawing at those low prices, you can do anything you'd like with the digital copy. Use it as a social media avatar, turn into a tee shirt, anything you can think of... it's your drawing to do whatever you' like with.

2) ALSO, some of you may already know I'm working on an anthology book featuring my more detailed high end mermaid art and also will include a collection of stories and poems related to mermaids. For example in the book would be the illustration I drew of Raina and I was thinking maybe -- if anyone wanted to -- I could include a few more drawings of mermaid performers from the community. Don't know if anyone would be up for that or not. This would be at no charge to you, frankly I'd be tickled to work from photos of you doing your mermaid thing, but of course the purpose of the drawing would be for inclusion in the book, so you'd want to be cool your image being published. I can't pay you for modeling -- wish I could, but I expect I'll probably lose money on the book as it is. My fear about doing this (besides no one wanting to be drawn LOL) is that if I am lucky enough to get more than a couple of volunteers for this -- well, I may not be able to draw up everyone. I'd really rather not hurt anyone's feelings if I can't or don't choose everyone. I really don't know how else to go about it though.

feel free to message me privately if you're interested or have any questions, or just post right here, I always check in from time to time. Thanks!

Are you looking for any Mer or just the uber professionals like Raina? Bcus I have a few pictures that you could use in the sketches if you would like. Also do the volunteers get a copy of the sketch of themselves??

I'm not necessarily looking for pros at all, but it probably would be best if it was someone who took it kind of seriously. In other words in the book it'd probably say something like "this is Mermaid Soandso, and does this and that" and tell a bit a her so it is kind of personalized. Ultimately the only other criteria is someone who can help me create a great drawing. So I don't necessarily need pro level photos to work from at all, but interesting poses and costumes and maybe even settings are probably what I'm looking for the most. I'm not looking for a photo to just copy and draw.
Ultimately I'd keep the original drawing, but would give you a high resolution scan of the drawing to do whatever you'd like with. Hope that helps answer your questions!

I really just need some images to look over and see if anything inspires me. This isn't really a contest or even anything with clear criteria, and I'm not particularly happy that some may get chosen and some may not for absolutely no fair reason, but I really can't think of a better way to go about this. I'm gathering by the name "Prince Calypso" that you're a merman? That may actually give you a unfair advantage over the ladies as I've only drawn one merman before, and that was over 20 years ago so no one will be seeing THAT drawing (LOL), so it seems like something that should be represented in the book somehow. Ultimately though the only criteria is something that inspires me create a great image. Wish I was more help...

Thanks! As I've told the others, I'm mostly looking for creative poses, costuming, or maybe a cool setting. There's no big hurry either, as this is sort of a slow go project and I still have several drawing to do.

What about artwork inspired from fiction rather than a photo?

Also, if you need fiction for your anthology, I have some I can give you.

I'm not too interested in drawing mermaids based on other stories unless it's a story being presented in this anthology. I am still taking submissions, however I must confess it'll be a while before I get to many of them. I already have a ton to go through -- more than enough to go to print. It's really just a matter of getting the illustrations finished and putting it all together. If you're interested in submitting, instructions for submissions can be found at:

For the record, if anyone is still following along, Mermaid Theta will definitely be drawn for the book! I'm considering at least two others.

I have a poem for your consideration, and I'd also like you to please consider drawing me for your book. I've been wanting a cameo in that webcomic with Raina for ages.

David is not the artist of the webcomic you've been following. He's the artist of the Fan Plastic webcomic, which doesn't do cameos.

Remember David is an artist, people can HIRE him. We did (Myself, Sola, and Fan PLastic Girl) and I plan on it again in the future.

Also David, Alveric routinely commissions artists for his writings which have been published as books ;)

I would love to be featured in your book as I'm trying to get off the ground as a professional mermaid.

My photos can be found on my facebook link in my signature if you'd like to take a look. ^^

I am getting a new tail so if you would like to use me, I can send over the new tail drawing as it's pretty... Private.
