I made this necklace from polymer clay, real beads, and lots of wire. I used the few small pictures of the necklace on the internet and DVD cover of Splash as a reference. Of course after I made it I found a clear picture of the actual necklace that had been used in the film. It turned out that I made mine completely symmetrical while the real one isn't. I believe that Thom Shouse made the real one for the movie, he used lots of different types of beads and it really looked like a mermaid had spent her life picking up different beads and pearls from shipwrecks and put it together to make a beautiful necklace. Mr. Shouse is the best :)

Raven made one of these too a while back! I really love the design. Nice job.

I'm glad you all like it :) It would be really fun to collaborate with another mer-fan and make more mermaid inspired jewelry. I will now go introduce myself on the forum :)
Ooh, I like yours, too! Sometimes a mermaid needs a symmetrical piece. I do think Tom Shouse made the necklace, I found a whole page dedicated to it on a blog dedicated to Splash: http://themoviesplash.blogspot.com/2011/09/necklace.html
