Hey everyone!
My name is Ryan. I'm 22, and currently living in my home state of Kentucky (but planning to move back to Florida during next summer). I studied fashion design in college in Miami, Florida (although my strengths are more in costume rather than fashion). I've been viewing your forum for a while, and I just joined tonight.
My first recollection of my mer-obsession was when I was a kid, I asked my mother to make a mer-tail for me to swim in-and she never did. :'( As a kid, I had a collection of mermaid figurines, dolls, and a large collection of whale species figures. O.o
As I got older, I took an interest in artwork, and typically would draw, or paint seascapes, fish, or mermaids. And a couple of years ago, I noticed the swim-able tails had hit the market, and I've been wanting one for quite some time but have never had the money to get one as of yet.
So, as part of my costume portfolio that I'm currently working on, I'm planning to design several collections of mermaid tails based on a variety of marine life, and when I find the one that suits me most, I'm going to put out the money and make it for myself in silicone. (I hope it doesn't take me a year- but we'll see).
I'll share sketches and designs as I create them. I'd love to have feedback critique from any of you guys.
Nice to meet all of you and I'm looking forward to the network!!!
