So before you scientist out there think this is literally about the big bang theory, it's not XD
I just wanted to see how many of you are into my favorite show, The Big bang Theory!
My dad recently got me hooked on it, I just think it's so funny! I <3 nerds LOL
So tell me! are you a big fan? Please feel free to share any of your favorite images or quotes!

I will start....

"Sheldon is one lab accident away from being a supervillan." - Lenard

"Rock, paper, scissors, lizzard, spock!" - Sheldon

"Stop making constipated moose sounds." - Lenard

"*knock knock knock* Penny *knock knock knock* Penny *knock knock knock* Penny" - Sheldon

More to come ;) lol

Is it too late to turn this into a thread about the actual big bang? I like it a lot more than the show.

I love the Big Bang theory. If I could meet any of the characters in real life outside of acting, it would be Sheldon. He's so intriguing. I get Leonard a lot and I sympathize with him, and he's the most normal out of them all to me. Although he does have his moments that make me say "Leonard, stop thinking with your lower head and start thinking with your upper one."
I never used to like Howard, he's nothing but pervy and hardly contributes anything to the more sciency side of the show, but recently he's been starting to grow on me for se reason.
Raj is super adorable. Personality wise. That's all I have to say about him. <3

I love the show. I think the actual theory is extremely debatable and my opinions on it are very strongly towards the it's wrong side of the debate

Wow, lol! You are so lucky...Sheldon is definately my favorite character, it wouldn't be a show without him!
I use to have a Sheldon/Lenard hybrid (...if that sounds right XD) but he left T_T

Agree with everything you said.
What would the show be without Sheldon? lol I would love to meet him!
And Lenard is so sweet and awkward lol
Howard is alittle...um...odd, but he has his moments.
Raj is so shy and cute lol
What are your thoughts on Penny?

I used to like her, she seemed innocent enough, but I feel like as the series progressed, she got a bit cocky and stereotypical. She drinks a lot, dates dumb guys, and works a minimum wage job. I don't like her much anymore. :/

That show has been around for quite a while.

I have a lot of friends who dislike the show because it depends too much on stereotypes to get the stories going. I don't mind the show as much as they do, most of the time. I like Sheldon and Howard. I find Leonard extremely annoying though, and often feel like punching him. He's supposed to be smart - he should be able to keep up with what Sheldon and the others say, just like the rest of us. :| And I like Howard more for other things (cameos) the actor has been in like the Dr Horrible Sing Along Blog and The Guild.

Penny has her good moments like when she starts turning "nerdy", but the show uses her too much as an excuse to make bad jokes about the lack of chicks in nerdtown, and to get more viewers. So, "eh".

I really don't care for the show, and despite what people say, I don't really think its made for a nerd audience. For one thing it tends to make fun of pretty outdated nerd stereotypes that aren't really true to life anymore. Nowadays there are totally different nerd stereotypes to make fun of, but they totally miss them.

Also, following up on comments about Howard, Simon Helberg is a funny actor, and the show consistantly squanders him by making him an unlikeable unfunny nonstop jew joke*.

In another attempt to make this a thread about how great cosmology is, here's another awesome youtube video:

*Full discloser, I'm a mid twenties culturally jewish aerospace engineer with a masters degree living in southern california, so how unlikeable and how unrealistic this character is totally gets under my skin.

I like the show! Yes, it rides a lot on stereotypes. But it's a TV show- it's mean to be overdone and overblown. Some people may find it more offensive becuase the lines and jokes are coming out of an actual person's (actor's) mouth. But animated adult shows like South Park, Family Guy, American Dad, King of the Hill, ect ect- they all do things WAY more motivated by sterotypes and overblown but people are okay with it. Just an observation there.

There are definitely more "geekdoms" and "fandoms" that they could explore, but there are SO MANY now! It's hard to cram them all into a hand full of show characters. Though I am kind of hoping they'll do one on Bronies XP

I don't hate BBT, but I'm of a mind with Malinghi. It does have its hilarious moments though, and if it happens to be on tv and I'm waiting for something else after it I usually get into the episode :) The stereotypes annoy me quite a bit, I definitely think it's not for a real nerd audience, just cashing in on the geek chic movement. Maybe I'm a little annoyed because the stereotypes they've chosen to exaggerate for laughs are traits exhibited by myself, my friends and my colleagues and I feel... hmm... a little bullied by it I guess.

... but my partner is quite a Sheldon too :P He forgot to take his calculator to a maths-heavy Engineering exam last semester and he still got over 70% O.O He's like some supergenius making me feel average :P

I absolutely ADORE The Guild :3
And I'm a Trekkie :$

I gave up on network television when NBC cancelled the original Star Trek.

Yeah I guess that if you ignore the show's perception of reality and focus on the jokes -within- the situations set up by the show it's funny in those scenarios. It just gets less funny the more you zoom out, if that makes sense.

My second favorite show ever!
"Bazinga" -Sheldon
"Goooood Penny" -Sheldon
"I asked my friend over at NORAD to find the house from america's next top model" -Howard

I'm not really fond of the show. I really wanted to be since I'm a fan of Wil Wheaten, but I didn't really laugh in either of the episodes I saw. Oh, well.

Recently got hooked on the show and began to worry at the growing number of things that I have in common with Sheldon.

I also have to say that Bernadette would make a superb mermaid.

Sometimes I think about a possible plot for an episode where Penny could appear as a mermaid...
But now I must agree with Nate Walis, Bernadette would also be a really nice mermaid.

I agree, they both would make great mers!

Lol about a mer-Sheldon !

With Bernadette and Penny as mermaids, Raj would stop thinking that "Aquaman sucks".

As for the idea of a scenario in which the female characters might be required to dress up as mermaids, thanks to the fact that Penny is a struggling actress, the episode pretty much writes itself. All you'd need is a job in which she thinks the requirement is to do something exotic and in reality it's to put on a tail and advertise something that makes her cringe with embarassment. Then you add the need for more mermaids and have her guilt-trip Bernadette and Amy into wearing tails alongside her, resulting in a scene where the rest of the cast happen upon them by accident. A promo job at a comics converntion would be perfect.
