I know tails take priorities over tops I believe, and have different wait times. I know she's been super busy (always is) I'll try and remind her too! If it's any consolation I believe she's finally nearing the end of her recent batch of orders and is just going flat out. Keep in mind they were away performing over the long weekend too. If you sent two emails I think that should be good :)
Thanks sweety! <3

This is so weird...I had MerBellas FB up earlier and she had posted a review of something and I was going to read it after I finished with another tab. I came back, it timed out and I refreshed the page and now it's gone. I wonder if it was deleted or an FB glitch?

yeah the FB page is being really wonky for Raven from the admin side of things, we're trying to figure it out together.
In the meantime, here are fluke details

I'm glad it was just FB, I was really looking forward to reading it but then it disappeared when I got back to it. Hopefully you guys can figure it out--FB is just so annoying for what seems like all of the time. :c
On the other hand--that tail is GORGEOUS! So glad to see the full thing.

Raina, I hate to bother Raven with another email. I had sent her my measurments over the weekend, which she never got, so I resent them with a question as to the vertical measurements and if I did it correctly. I hate to email her again to make sure she got it, but I also worry she didnt get my message. How long is long enough to wait? LOL. Once I know I have sent everything and she has all that she needs from me, I seriously won't bother her...LOL..I just dont want to think she has what she needs, then months later find out she couldnt work on it b/c she didnt have my info. LOL...sigh

So I know there are several mers with the neoprene backed tails from merbellas, I'm curious to know from one of you guys if they get heavy, or hard to lift the fluke out of the water. I'm saving up for a new tail because the Mertailor one I have is just getting cumbersome, falling apart (and I've only swam in it like 15 times), and I find I get bruises on my feet from trying to work the tail due to it getting so heavy. Is this something that is just par for the course on neoprene backed tails, or is just an issue with the Mertailors tail?
Mermaid Octavia

I don't have a Merbellas basic tail (mine is pure neoprene) but I can say that my tail gets very heavy when I try to get out of the water - my tail soaks it up like a sponge.

Yes they get heavier when wet. I can bearly pull mine out of the water without help or hold it up for very long. I did notice it got easier though the longer I was in my tail. I think my muscles had gotten use to "how" my body need to move to lift it. But I think the more I swim in my tail the easier will get.

so a neoprene based tail is heavier in the water than a full silicone tail?

I think it's rather, a neoprene based tail soaks up water and retains it when getting out of the water. It's near weightless when fully submerged - the weight issue only comes up when you were just in the water and you're trying to get out or lift your fluke. It's a sponge effect - sponges are much lighter when dry vs when wet! I hope that all made sense!

I think most silicone tails are heavy fluke wise, I suggest getting the fluke cast thinner- but if you do that you must be aware that they are more fragile than a regular fluke. I still can't lift the mermaid creations tail fluke out of the water- and most of the time for photos the other mermaids I have it in get Sean to help them lift it up- but I've never had a problem lifting my merbellas fluke (which keep in mind is cast thinner)
Shimmy Goddess I'll suggest Raven take a look at the forum. We're both pretty busy this weekend.
Mermaid Lorelei
09-06-2013, 05:02 PM
Just be careful about getting a fluke cast too thin. I made mine thin so I could lift it easily as well, but I ended up making it too thin and now it looks obvious that I have a monofin inside. Just saying. :>

Heavier/harder to swim IN the water? Not really. Hard to lift the fluke? Yes. I tried doing a couple of shots the other day and the photographer was like 'can you lift the tail out of the water some more?' and I was like "Not really" I'd usually have to change the pose I was doing to get more out of my legs. As for lifting up the fluke... in this picture here:
14278
the fluke had to be constantly moving, so I'd either lift it straight out of the water and she'd do an action/burst shot and then I'd let it flop back down, or I kind of figured out I can wave it back and forth and that helped me keep my balance. But just holding it straight up (like in Raina's sig or in the photo) I was only like that for a few second before the weight pulled me sideways haha!
It is also MUCH heavier out of the water once you've swum in it (a perfect way to end a long swim and you're all tired).

It's funny cuz I will fall over sometimes because it's so wide and the balance thing just makes me go flying... haha but yeah I honestly have no trouble holding it up. It also doesn't collect water so that helps. but keep in mind I don't have neoprene
Ah, well, I suppose that a real mermaid might be a little unstable out of the water as well :p Great, now I get to look forward to falling over every time I try doing that pose LOL!

Whoa.... haha weird dream.
Sorta.
In my dream, my tail was suddenly here! Like with no warning from Raven or anything. I was so surprised. Haha I was also nervous because I hadn't received any pictures of my tail before she sent it. I left it there and didn't open it for like two days. When I finally cut the tape, I only opened the flap and didn't get to see the tail. XD I don't know what happened that prevented me from fully opening it.
So, yeap!
Edit: I know Raven would never do that. XP

I'd say the ability to lift the fluke out of the water is another pro for the performance tails. The fluke is COMPLETELY glued down so no water gets in it at all. It goes down to the end of the foot pockets and after that it's sealed off. Yeah, the fluke is heavy, but it's JUST the weight of the fluke you're dealing with, not water weight in there or extra weight of wet material. Since I have a competitor monofin it's even easier since the fin acts like the fluke's "bone" I guess you could say. I can actually do hand stands in my tail in a pool! I can do the classic "fluke up" pose pretty indefinitely. And I can do things like this (thumbnails, click for larger image).

Oh one suick question:.after a 4 to 5 times of swimming in my (basic) tail, is it recommended to give the tail a bath with baking soda? And for how long/ how much baking soda? I always rise my tail with water every time I had a swim in it. But now the inside is a bit smelly (It dried properly!). Thanks!
(I know this is somewhere in the tail care trezd, but I can't seem to find it asap)

Mine's not silicone but I did notice the same funky smell from my neoprene tail and what I did was soak it in a cold water bath with antibacterial soap. I can turn mine inside out, so I did one soak on the outside, rinsed, turned it inside out and did another soap bath, rinsed and dried it. It was a very mild hand soap and the smell went away!

Baking soda soaks are to neutralize the acidic effects of chlorine directly after a swim to prevent damage to your tail. How much and how long is your best judgement. Sometimes I do a rinse, sometimes a soak, sometimes for a few hrs sometimes overnight.
The smell issue is due to bacteria growth. You can use a white vinegar rinse (1:1 ratio water and vinegar mix). You can use antibacterial soap but it may be harsh on the materials, which is why most people use vinegar as it's a very benign cleaner. You can also use special wet suit cleaner (linked in tail care thread) that will do a great job and is made for that material.
For people with full silicone tails that's when you bust out the sex toy cleaner. Mine got a funky smell 10 swims in and using the toy cleaner all inside of it got rid of it.

Iona, my public poor is using Chlorine for their water (although i don't know the amount within...).
My tail is a blue magictail so it's made of fabric. Recently, after 4 swims, i understood that i had to rinse my tail right after the swim and sometime with mild soap to avoid the damages. What about white vinegar? Do you think this is something that i can use for this kind of material?

I had my first swim in my merbellas tail yesterday!! It was awesome, but hot clam the competitor takes some getting used to, especially after taililn it up in an oceanika in my fish butt (granted I do practice with a rapid), but phew, my feet were killing me after, but it's so pretty in the water! I'm going swimming again tomorrow and friday, and I'll post my review here in the next two days, just wanted to share because I was super stoked, it was a salt water pool so I rinsed it out with fresh water, dried it out, and then put it on my wader dryer, on wednesday I'll soak it. :-)

Hey guys. So, I've run into a bit of trouble. In a recent photoshoot I was doing a boat passed and washed me into a rock covered in oysters. I got a bit cut up, and my tail sustained a small amount of damage. It has a few cuts in the bottom (as in right where my bottom is) right now, luckily they're all just on the silicon level and haven't actually reached the neoprene so I suspect they're repairable. I'd just like to know if anyone could tell me how to fix them? I'm really keen to go swimming but I refuse to until my tail is repaired because I don't want to damage it further.
On a side note, the swimming I did whilst at that shoot didn't hurt my ankles at all so yay :)

The cuts on the tail aren't too bad. 3 of them ranging in length from about 3-5cm. 2 are just scratches and didn't go through to the neoprene and 1 did but didn't damage the neoprene itself. As for me it was mostly on my back but I didn't get any stitches and the cuts were a bit more numerous, but still light and not too deep :)

They weren't deleted on purpose. Coincidentally, just before we were hacked, there was a forum glitch and the new merbellas reviews disappeared. I didn't purchase a Merbella's tail but I have some advice with what has recently happened with the reviews disappearing. Our company, more specifically my boss is obsessed with having a backup of everything. My suggestion would be to take a copy of the reviews once found (if they can be recovered, fins crossed) and place them on another computer/server that is not related to the servers that run this site. This could go for any content that needs to be backed up. With the other server, make sure that it has backup of backups like our work server has. Its sounds funny to have so many backups but in todays technology driven world this will make life alot easier later if this ever occurs again. Just my two cents.

we do have backups done constantly. This was a very very weird glitch.
Winged Mermaid
09-14-2013, 12:30 AM
I was going to PM people about this if I had no further success by tomorrow. Unfortunately the system that glitched was part of a modification to the original software, so it was essentially out of the system in a way. It's hard to explain :/ So backups couldn't help me. It was very strange. I mean the reviews had been up for weeks and Google Cashe didn't even have them even though the Cashe was taken on the 7th of this month! Tell me how that makes sense X_x This was my first time running into it, but now I know that the mod has that issue I'll be making separate backups so if it happens again I'll at least have the content. I'm sincerely sorry to the three whose reviews got deleted (Raina's later one, Ariel, and SweetestofSirens) becuase I know reviews like that take a lot of time and effort to put together :( I hope you'll at least reconsider re-writing them at some point. I know that's very difficult (had stuff like that happen to me and I know i was too frustrated to re write) but that's all I can ask. I'm sincerely sorry but I've tried everything and I can't recover them. The closest I came, I got a server data base error with a 404 so I think they're just gone. :sad eyes:

Am I allowed to be nervous at this stage? XD 'Cause I'm nervous. Not on her end, just the "Did I take my measurements right" kind of nervous. Gaaaaaaaah.... *flails* I did them like 2-3 times and they always came the same. And I'm like... did I take them tight enough? Hahaha (well, my roommate took them. XD )

Please tell me all what you think of the video as far as presenting it to prospective jobs and gig opportunities.

Phoenix, the tail looks amazing but if I might make some suggestions for your reel. People are hiring you for you and your personality as well as what you look like. It might be nice to get some shots of you interacting with the camera not just swimming. Take a look at what Melissa and Raven do in their tanks to give you some ideas. Just a suggestion!

Thank you Lynsea for the advice! (haha.... Lyn-Sea, i love it! ) I'm still working on collecting more photos and better swim clips, like flips, blowing bubbles, kisses and playing. I'll be able to capture better footage once I get a new camera.

Yea the cam does pick up good quality video, the sound seems to have messed up since my last swim but I don't really need sound on that cam. I usually ask my fiance to film for me, but that was when I had a snorkel with a camera attached to it. He would just swim around with me and we got great shots and footage. But that one broke and the one I have now is a little hand held underwater camera. Nice specs and image quality but whoever is filming can't see a thing of what their filming, while the other snorkel cam is at eyesight & picked up whatever you saw through the goggles.

Syrena - Yeah, I'm silly. Haha Yeah, seeing the design off paper and into reality is going to be MIND BLOWING. Just gah! Not even seeing it and I'm all giddy. Hahaha Wish we could swim together! ♥♥
My main concern right now was that I had asked her about my monofin being cut a certain way when I had originally said that I want it uncut and have had zero luck on getting a response about that. :-/ It's kind of important to me.
Then, there's also the thing we talked about with her new method of hiding knees and heels. I never gave a straight yes or no about it because I had questions I really wanted answered first, and still no response. :-( I've brought it up in reply to emails that she sent me, but... :-/
I don't want her to build it, then I find out I didn't want that done and she has to take it apart. :-( Now she's sick and I feel really bad about e-mailing her. :<
What should I do? DX

I know this feel. I just want you to know, as someone who has felt super bad for feeling like they didn't communicate well enough or early enough leading to issues with their order, Raven is super professional about it. When it comes down to it, she doesn't care about having to redo things- she cares about the customer being happy with their tail. She knows she's essentially making people's dreams, and she pours herself into them! Even if that means having to redo seams, repaint, whatever. It just might take more time, but if you're willing to wait she's willing to make it happen :) From what I've seen, what makes her the happiest is when someone is happy with their tail! I think she would rather you bug her or have her redo than have you not be happy with it. And that's why she is astounding at what she does!

Kailani, the way she is hiding knees and heels is in my tail, it's neoprene that is in there, it's not on my knees although that would have been cool, but it's in my heel area and so it's a little baggier around that area but it's also fantastic because I don't have to worry about my heels sticking through. Also, FINALLY posted my review of my new galaxy tail. Check it out!
Mermaid Kalliope
09-23-2013, 01:43 PM
Harmony - Oh? The way she talked about it was like it was brand new, and she adds mostly silicone rather than neoprene. I had been slightly concerned with buoyancy in those spots because she had mentioned neoprene. She assured me, though, that it is mostly silicone. So, I don't know if that's the same thing you have. *shrugs* if it is, cool!
Marlin- Sure! Why not? :-P

The main tail price went down from $3000 to $2600 and the extra amenities went up. Dorals fins went from $200 to $300 and Pectoral fins went from $75 per pair to $150 per pair. This is according to Mr. Tyler Stutter, which you can see in the above picture that was screen capped off of the FB page.
So, depending on the tail you want, it can be less expensive. But adding some of the amenities can balance it to it's original pricing. However, I feel like this is a very good deal. I hope the new pricing is correct. :)

I literally have an obsession for that tail she's trying to sell. I wish and wish I had the money right now for something like that :\ I LOVED her first basics. I "think" she made them with the silicone fluke mold. But they caused too much drag so she stopped making that way. That was the story right? xD Or am I wrong? I remember months back I was wondering if she still made them that way, but she doesn't. Blaaahhh I'd sell my soul for that tail. I love the floppiness in it. I don't even care about the monofin being a little visible.

Some pictures I've been meaning to post as a reference. With my first pair of scale bracers, the scales were easily ripped apart and with a 3+ inch difference between my hands and wrists it was far too easy for them to pull apart. Raven made my second pair with smaller scales and she said she planned to make the Merbella Scale bracers that way from there on, and I just wanted to post real quick as reference the difference between the scale sizes as I still have the little scale scraps she used to put the earrings (gift<3) on. I don't know if she'll do that for the rounded scale bracers but the Merbella ones would definitely have to, these scales are practically invincible. I put a spool of thread as reference for size.

Really important question: How stretchy are the basic tails?
I ask because I might be able to fit the tail that Raven is selling. I fit all the measurements except the hips and knees! I'm only 4 inches off. Interesting. So, How stretchy are basic tails? Will it even fit if those two measurements are off? What are your opinions?
Anahita
09-26-2013, 02:47 AM
They likely won't stretch 4 inches.... full silicone won't even stretch 4 inches without being damaged over repeated wear that way.... Neoprene has elasticity to it, but four inches of stress-stretch is a lot on these materials.

Soooooo, I scooped up Raven's opening for a performance tail (dying with excitement over here). I'm thinking of doing the angler fluke. Does anyone have one of her tails with the Merbella scales? I was consider getting them because they're gorgeous. But Raven told me they're more fragile than the rounded scales and stretch less. Anyone have an opinion on one over the other?
MerEmma
09-27-2013, 09:17 PM
Mermaid Hyli has them and I know Oceana does too. I have the smaller ones on my bracers but when I had the larger scales YES, they were very much fragile. I can't compare them to rounded scales but they ripped the first time I put the bracers on (granted my hands are a 3+ inch different and it might not be as bad on a tail) but they are fragile. If you look at the picture above you can kind of see how thin they are on the green scrap of scale, which is tail-size.

I saw that, Emma. they look so pretty. But I would be devestated if I ripped my tail. I've never had full silicone either, so maybe I should get the rounded scales...

I own the classic scales, and have seen the Merbella scales up close on 4+ occasions. I actually saw the Mebella scales up close before I ordered and that sealed me getting the classic scales. They're beautiful, but they are much more fragile.. it's just due to the design. The classic scales are uniform in thickness. The Merbella scales are very thick around the edges and thin in the middle and dips. Also the merbella scales are heavier than the classic. I got classic and a competitor, the other tail had merbella scales and a foil.. huge weight difference! Also the mebella scales stretch less but when they start stretching.. well on this tail you could see the nylon mesh and see THROUGH the scales because of how tin the thinnest part of the scales are cast :/ But the merbella scales sure to pop something fierce in photos and can make the paint job look holographic. Pros and cons for sure.

rounded for sure if you're going to use it a lot!
MerEmma

I think if you're worried about ripping it the rounded are much better. The merbella scales are SO gorgeous and I love them SO much but I would never get them on a tail, I was so disappointed and upset when they ripped on the bracers, let alone a $3,000+ tail. =\

I would like to get the Merbella scales, but not on the current tail. Someday, I'll make a design that can have them. XD they do look really shimmery, but I know that Hyli had a rip fairly soon. :-( So, like Iona said... pros and cons.
Also, Hyli has both the scales AND the angler fluke. They look amazing together. :-D
Merley
09-29-2013, 07:51 AM
I know, her tail is to die for. But I rather not risk the rip. Anyone have any idea how many people on here have angler flukes? I'm trying to get an idea on the size of it, because in Hyli's picture 14895 it looks massive but in some of Raven's videos it looks smaller. It looks awesome in the water tho. I want a really big fluke. Like looking at Iona's when she holds her's next to her head, it looks enormous. I'm just so excited and indecisive. I have a month to decide what I want.

Depends on the monofin you get in it
Merley
09-29-2013, 04:39 PM
I'm definitely thinking competitor, though I like the flowy/floppiness at the ends with some of the smaller monofins. :/ Decisions, decisions...
Mermaid Kalliope
09-29-2013, 06:04 PM
The size can also sort of be skewed by your own body. If you have itty bitty ankles, the fluke will look bigger, and if you have thicker ankles, well... you get the point. Haha
I know my fluke (custom done) is the largest she's done, and it should still have flow in the tips. Also, look at Raina's fluke! It has a competitor filling it and it still has nice flop, plus the tips are wibbly. :3 It's not super flowy like a foil would cause, but it still has movement to it.
So, I think (ask Hyli to be certain) that the spikey parts of the angler are floppy. If that helps at all. :-)
Merley
09-29-2013, 06:13 PM
Well, she's tiny so I guess that's why it looks so big. I have big feet and relatively small ankles, so hopefully it will look alright proportion-wise. Hey Kailani, would you mind posting a picture of your tail/fluke? While I'm sure you may have posted it at one time elsewhere it's such a pain in the arse to hunt down stuff in other threads. Oh hi there guys haha its been awhile, let's see I'll try to answer all or any questions. Yes the merbellas scales are a bit see through but as soon as you put it on you can't see through. They are stretchy and thinner. As far as wear and tear I've had a bit of trouble with my dorsal (already talked to Raven and having it fixed in October) and sadly during shipping process it tore a bit at my waist but we have been very careful every time I wear it to not make it worse (also getting fixed) I really do love the look they give and the kids really like them as well. I have seen the rounded scales first hand and I do like them I guess the girly girl in me prefers the more detailed scale. Again this is just my personal opinion. As for my fluke, in that picture the fluke is enlarged because of the positioning of my body to the underwater camera Chris uses. Whatever is closer to the lens will appear larger. My fluke is exactly 2 feet in diameter. The 'spikes'? on the sides are actually pretty stiff and not floppy. I recommend the angler if you are smaller just because the tail in itself already weighs about 30 pounds. Again me personally I love the smaller fluke. It's all about what you like and what you want to use the tail for =] Oh, and I do have really awesome propulsion I was able to keep up with sharks and sea turtles(those buggers are fast) when I was in the ocean with my tail...maybe I should do a review haha

AniaR

Mer-Crazy
10-04-2013, 08:26 PM
I don't know about the 'new new' basic design, but the most recent ones she's put out do have neoprene in the fluke as well. I'd say though, if she were to remove it from one part or the other, having the fluke silicone makes more sense to me, I think the body is generally bigger isn't it? And the neoprene in the fluke does cause some problems, it makes it very heavy when wet and it also makes it quite bulky.
ON a side note, I'd like to know if anyone has a merbella's performance tail with a foil monofin? I'm thinking about it for my eventual performance tail because looking at it, I kind of like the floppy look more. I've heard Raven has them in all of her tails? Any customers?
Winged Mermaid
10-04-2013, 09:45 PM
Well when you cast a fluke and make it one hunk of silicone like she does most of the silicone is in the fluke (and most of the weight too), plus the body is much more likely to wear out than the fluke is IMO, and non neoprene backed scales make the fit of the body much better. So all in all it does make more sense to make full silicone scales and partial silicone fluke.
I know Oceana and Ayla have foils in their performance tails. The foil ones are heavier and much harder to lift (in or out of the water, come to think of it I don't think I've seen Oceana ever lift hers over her head..) but they are nice and flowy.
AniaR
10-04-2013, 09:58 PM
yeah I think all of Raven's performance tails are foils, I don't think the competitor fits in the tank very well. She did some photos in mine both times she had it and said it was very big in the tank.
Mermaid Harmony
10-04-2013, 11:24 PM
I don't know if her new basic tail design is the same as my hybrid one she made, but if it is,there is no neoprene in fluke, just by my ankles to keep my heels from showing, the inside is a mesh in the body tail of the portion. But I like it, because I'd be terrified of slicing through the full silicone body tails with no black mesh on the inside, and then the fluke is lighter as well. :-)

Ayla was able to get hers above her head here, but I'd say for more insight to contact Raven since she's tried both monofins. I feel like the Oceanika, if you like that fluke, is kind of a middle ground between the two. :)

I think there's some confusion, i'll ask Raven. I thought the only tails made with neoprene in the fluke were the original basics and that was phased out. So the first basic tail they ever made, the green one that she was selling, she was explaining it has a neoprene and silicone fluke (part of why the monofin was so visible). I think maybe because she shared that people got confused?

side note: my mermaid creations tail inc is a finis foil with silicone. I can't lift it above my head, and it's extremely heavy. But the advantage is that it's super flowy. In all the photos you see where it's up, we've lifted it up just before the photo. So I think I'm the only one who can actually tell you what it's like to compare the competitor to the foil in silicone tails...? Do you feel the weight in the water? How does it affect your swimming? (i.e does it make it harder to swim or anything like that) If I did get it, I'd want to primarily just use it for recreational swimming in pools or ocean and maybe gigs at a much later date. I just like the look of the flowy-ness a lot more, but if it's going to be too heavy for me then I'd have to rethink it.
MerEmma

I don't think anyone would recommend a Foil for ocean swimming, but I could be wrong. If you intend to swim in the ocean you need a really powerful kick.
AniaR
10-05-2013, 10:46 AM
Honestly, my PERSONAL OPINION is get a competitor for that sort of use. No matter how skilled the mermaid is who puts on my foil tail, they find it harder to swim in the ocean. And always much much heavier with no kick. For a pool it's not the end of the world, you're usually lounging around with kids anyway. Competitors are built for ocean swimming. I can go against the current (not that I'm suggesting you do that) in it, and I don't worry about my safety when I use it as much as the other.
Jessica
10-05-2013, 11:15 AM
I have a foil in the silicone tail I made and it's very difficult to lift my fluke if I'm sitting down. If I'm on my stomach I can lift it over my head and slap the water, but its very floppy and a little difficult to move around. However, it really does look very realistic because its so floppy...it really reminds me of a fish.
If you have any intention of going in the ocean I would get a competitor. I honestly don't know if I would take my tail in the ocean unless it was very calm because the foil doesn't give me enough power. If you're going to have a 30lb tail you really need a strong monofin. I do a lot more kicking with my foil than i do with my wave monofin. I've never tried a competitor, but there is a huge difference between the foil and the wave so I can only imagine how much power the competitor would offer.

I briefly caught up with Raven. She was still sick for about a week, like in bed sick. But she's coming round now and catching up. Several tails are just about finished, and Daniela's been all sorted- she was emailing the wrong email hence not hearing anything about her tail ;) there was also a monofin shortage that slowed things down.
For future reference folks, remember, the email that works is merbellastudios@gmail.com :)
Mer-Crazy
10-06-2013, 03:54 AM
I emailed Raven and she said she advises against it, and that they try and urge people away from the foil because it makes the fluke very unmanageable on land. It's not that it's 'heavier' than the competitor, more just that you don't have control of the fluke out of the water, making it difficult to life the fluke over your head or do tail slaps and it can be harder to move around. She also said you won't be able to swim as fast or as easily as you would with a competitor. She also said that it's not recommended for open water swimming.
SO I probably won't end up getting a foil :( Even though I liked the look of the flowyness.
Also! On the basic tail/neoprene fluke note: I have a basic and I'm fairly sure that it does have neoprene in it. I can't say 100 percent, because I haven't cut it open to look and I didn't make it but it looks and feels like it does, compared to what I've seen in performance.

*spazzes* Gaaaaahhh.... octotops! I'm going to see if I have enough money from my seasonal job to add one to my order. :3 I reeeeeeally hope I can! (Or just order it separately because I think my tail is almost done. 83 )

DAT TOP. Ursula is just the best, and any top based on her is awesome. So it's going to be out around Halloween? Doesn't that mean that the mers who order it will receive it after Halloween, though?

I know my tail does in fact have neoprene in the fluke. The fluke in my tail won't dry so I have to roll it half way down, then try to put washcloths on top of the foot sockets and under the foot sockets. I push them down as far as I can get it to go. The neoprene goes down far (it might even help make up part of the fluke, with silicone on top. although that I can't be sure about) But yes the basic tail has neoprene in the fluke.

Than probably mine will have it as well ;)

Wow stunning Ursula top! I can't wakt what more she's been up to! :)
Raina: Any news on the top orders?
I guess you didn't see, but Raina isn't doing emails for them anymore right now, so she might not know. Plus Raven's been sick in bed. Just telling what I know!

It usually takes weeks for her to fill top orders, and she hasn't listed it yet so I don't think anyone will be getting them in time for Halloween. I think she's just going with the spirit of the season ;)

Thanks, Iona! Maybe she'll release it with her other tops when she restocks etsy with 'em. *fins crossed* It's (the top, that is) deviously divine. *launches into rendition of Poor Unfortunate Souls*

Is that a clear seaweed type fin in the preview video? O.O If so, I'm totes changing my fluke idea.

Waikiki Mermaid: Nope, tis the She-Creature inspired fin (you can find pics of it on the Merbella Studios FB page). I think it just looks transparent because it's been laid against the sand, which is a similar colour. Lucky ducky, I can't wait to see how your tail eventually turns out :)

Thought it might be the She Creature one, it looks different in the video tho. I like it. Me too, Syrena. I'm SO excited; you have no idea. I just started running from the first day of my month long intense workout program. Going again 7 hours. It's begun...

They looked so cold in there, or maybe nervous as I could see some of them shaking. But they were so beautiful and I love the song too. XD

Omg, I love that video. It's so silly but they all look so serious. Everyone is so pretty and the accessories look gorgeous too. <3

I'm a little worried.
That all blue headdress with the crystals is a headdress I asked Raven to make me, and I haven't got it yet. I been trying to get ahold of her for over a month to no success. I was suppose to get more pictures of it, but never got sent any, and then end up seeing the merbella mermaids wearing it.
I'm terrified my headdress got given away, or something. But, I don't know how to contact her about it. I'm not having any success with sending emails, at all, and I'm even sending them on her email day.

Okay, so Marlin told me that he saw on Facebook that the price for basic tails went up, but when I checked I didn't see where he found it. Can anyone clear this up for me, cuz I thought they were $1000, but he says that they changed to $1500

I saw that too. It's in her notes https://www.facebook.com/MerBellaStudios/notes

I'm so confused about that note, though! :P
Tail is custom made to your provided measurements.
100% DragonSkin platimun cure silicone.
Made with a Competitor Monofin. (no foil, Wave, Rapid, Oceanika, etc. options?)
Raised rounded scales and fluke texture.
I am also able to customize the shape of the fluke with this design.
It is neoprene lined and slightly buoyant in the water. (Doesn't it say 100% silicone, or is that just referring to the silicone's Dragonskin quality?)
Includes your custom color design. *I do not charge extra for colors.
Basic design does not include any "extra fins".

The new one I think will be much better designed though from what I've heard, and the performance tail went down so I do think it's a fair trade off.

Yup I have the same email for her that I have always used but no matter how many times I email her I am getting no response..
Which still may be the old email if it's the info@merbellas one. Nobody has been getting email responses for the past little while, for all the reasons we've been documenting here. And Raven usually features her products when she has time on a model or herself so she can have a photo of her art or something before she sends it out (she's done photoshoots in my tail) unless the customer specifically requests that they don't. So double check your email, and remember she JUST got back on the saddle after being sick for a week. You said you asked Raven to make it for you, but did you pay her to make it for you? (I'm not in the emails at this time so I can't check). If you didn't pay, she's probably not responding to emails right now for things that arne't paid for because she's trying to get all the current orders out. I know people will often email asking to make something custom like a head dress or top but they don't get to the paying stage for whatever reason, and she has to take care of paid orders first and doesn't have time to do those emails.
As for the basic tail price,
The basic tail price HAD to go up. The 1000$ price was for the first prototypes of the tails which looked like this:
http://mernetwork.com/index/attachment.php?attachmentid=14763&d=1379966875
But people wanted more detail, more options etc and she uses more materials, and the basic tails take MORE TIME TO CREATE than the performance tails. It's the first time she's upped her prices and she's been making these tails now for almost 2 years. (compare that to others who have changed prices upwards of 4 times in a year with much bigger increases) I'm sorry people are disappointed, but many of us have been encouraging her to up the basic price for a year now because they take so much work and she's wearing herself so thin. The tails take way more materials now, have way more details, and take way more time than any other product she makes. They're also the highest one in demand. And she's STILL working on improving them.
Plus, she put the performance tail down in price.
As for the note, the whole thing needs to be updated but it wont be until their done redesigning the tails the way they want them to be and they begin to take orders again.
I'm not trying to come off all crazy and I am NOT speaking for Raven, I am just one of the many people who have been encouraging her for a long time now to put the price up for the basic tails because I see how much extra time and money she pours into every one.

No it's her merbellastudios@gmail.com email.
And no, thats why I'm trying to get ahold of her. She told me she wouldn't know how much it would cost until it was finished, so I was suppose to pay after it was done. She told me early on that when it was finished she'd tell me and put it in her etsy so I could buy it. I was also told I'd get more pictures of the finished headdress but I haven't gotten any of that either.

If you haven't paid, you're going to have to wait. She hasnt restocked her etsy for a reason, or done anything for anyone who hasn't paid stuff yet because the customers who have paid 1000s of dollar get first priority and as you've seen in the thread there are people who have been waiting patiently for tails for a while. She was sick, monofins got delayed, and she's had to do it all by herself when usually she at least has her husband to help her. I've been passing on everything here. Once all the tail orders are out, she'll restock the etsy and go back to top and head dresses and accessory orders etc and people can pay for stuff and buy it. Right now the priority is to get the tails out and if you still want the head dress when she's done all that, then it'll be there! I'm sorry you'v ehad to wait but you can't really complain about something you haven't actually bought. i'll mention it to Raven.

you talked about ordering it, it's not ordered til it's paid for. Anyway, I mentioned to Raven. She didn't see any emails She thought you just weren't interested in it anymore or forgot about it. so I suggested she check spam and there's a bunch of blank ones from you? Anyway she's going to email you when she finds some time.

I kinda figured since I commissioned it and she MADE it that it was kinda considered ordered :/ I dont understand why someone would make someones order and only consider it "talked about".
Don't know why there's blank emails. All my emails had a reply in them so that's odd.
