So a few weeks ago, I went to my local Halloween parade. I saw a woman in a wheelchair with a PEACOCK mermaid tail that was ABSOLUTELY gorgeous. Today, I went to my local Christmas parade and saw the same woman in the same tail on a float. I didn't get to talk to her either time, but I bet she'll be at next weekend's parade and I'll take better photos (I have some already on my camera, but I'll upload them tomorrow!). So anyway, I wanted to wait until I had the photos directly to upload, but I just couldn't, haha! After a very quick Google search, I found this: http://www.myhometownnews.net/index.php?id=96236 on her. I am really, really excited about this (wouldn't it be funny if she was on this site and I didn't even know?). I didn't expect to find her online, or any mers where I live. I'd like to maybe one day mention MerNetwork to her, but I might not get a chance since I've only seen her in parades. Hm. I'm just eeeeee! So excited to see that there are mers where I live and everything. That picture doesn't have her peacock tail, but my battery was draining today on my camera. Next time, I'll be prepared!

Bahh ha ha this is so funny! Who know there was another mer in the crowd! Thanks to Blondie and Lanai for helping you figure out who I am...and so funny you found that article from Hometown News! I have been kindof delinquent with checking MerNetwork lately....got a new job, etc. But what fun!!! That is totally awesome that there is another mer here! I will respond to your PM now too, but I just wanted to pop up here too and let y'all know I'm still around, lol!

The 2nd picture you took has my hubby in the foreground (that's his back to the camera...he was filming video). Here are a couple of pics he took before the parade:790379047905

Anyhow, great to see another local mer on here...and I've been kicked back into gear to check MerNetwork more often!!!

I just wanted to add to my earlier post b/c I am still so excited to find out there is another mer in our little town. I really wish we would've gotten a chance to speak in person, but hopefully we'll get to meet someday soon. I did send a reply to your PM saying basically that, but I'm still squealing a little about how fun it was to get your message and to see this thread, so I felt I should write again in case my excitement didn't come across before :D Also wanted to say thanks a bunch for the complement on my tail!!!! I'm glad the peacock thing comes across, b/c that was definitely my design intention when I made it.

Also wanted to mention, if you didn't know already, there is a group of Florida mers that is attempting to have some get-togethers. We had one at Alexander Springs back in September which was really fun (iblondie, who posted above, was one of the mers in attendance), and we started a Facebook group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/FloridaMerfolk/?bookmark_t=group Hopefully that link will bring you to the FB group. There is very little activity on it...actually none since September... but if something starts to get planned for next year there may be some info posted there (as well as on MN of course).

Anyhow, hope to hear from you soon Emma! - Traci :)

I second joining that group xD I'm already thinking about the 2013 spring meet up! I'm hoping we can get more mers out there! You should join us if you can at future meet ups Emma!

I searched to find this thread and I have no idea how I missed your replies way-back-when... /)_-

But yes, I'll definitely see about joining you guys at a meet-up sometime. Hopefully I'll have a tail by summertime.
