I've looked around a couple times, and realized while we have lots of little threads for many topics, we don't really have a continuous one for just general short updates about how everyone's day is going. Sometimes I feel like I have little things I just want to tell people/vent, but they're not enough to deserve their own thread. So, I thought maybe we could have one everyone can post on if they wish (much like the mermaid "awkward moment when" thread, but for things non-mer related).

So feel free to just post general comments about what you've been up to or how you're feeling here!

Today I have a lot of work I need to finish, but I'm super excited because I'll be seeing two of my favorite bands (Eluveitie and Wintersun) for the first time tonight!! Now if I can just get my work done beforehand, so I'm not up all night afterwards...

I should also probably start studying for my finals x_x

So tell me: how are you all doing? :)

I'm doing good, just had lunch and now I'm finishing up Adella's logo/business card, and then I can divert my attention to working more on Lexia's logo. Its gonna be a productive day. :D

I'm doing terrible... I really wish I could have had today off work. My cat of 13 1/2 years passed away yesterday from suspected cancer in the lining in her intestines... there was literally nothing I could do to help her but end her suffering. I cried myself to sleep last night and woke up sobbing this morning. We're short staffed at work, tho, so I couldn't take the time off... I'm having to hide my tears from customers and it really sucks...

Thanks for asking, I'm fairly stressed with finances and trying to find long term work, but my mermaid stuff is piling up, I've got a roof over my head, and someone to love me. SO I can't complain too much.

Margarete I'm very sorry to hear about your cat. <3

Oh Margarete, I'm so sorry to hear about your cat :( I was devastated when I lost my pet, it really does feel terrible *hugshugshugs* I think you did the right thing by ending her suffering, that's pretty old for a cat and I'm sure she had a happy life with someone who loved her. And you'll still have your memories of her, even though right now they must hurt more than help <3

As for dealing with it at work, I remember when my pet died I had to go to hockey practice that day anyway and spent a few minutes crying in the bathroom before practice where no one would see me. Sometimes it feels better just to sneak away for a few minutes and just let yourself cry for a while before returning to work. Doesn't make it hurt less, but for me it at least made it easier not to be tearful for the following hour or so.

mermaidandrea--my parents did the same thing. Finals time was always super stressful for me at home (before college) because of it :( But just do your best to focus on your work... I hope she lightens up soon :(

And sorry to hear about your stress too, Raina... good luck with finding work!! I know how hard that can be in today's economy :( But good to hear your mermaiding is going well!!

margarete - im so sorry about your kitty :( i know how much it sucks to lose a pet. stay strong, sweetie, everything will work out. you made your kitty happy, and you were there when she most needed it. thats all that matters now.

anyways, im alright. sort of just not doing anything besides hanging out with my boyfriend, then going to work. thats how my days go. at least i enjoy my job (:

Thanks everyone <3 I'm trying to just remember I gave her a great life... I just still feel super helpless that there was nothing I could do to save her... you always just hope there's that option to save them...

Ah - I remember finals. Fun times...not really :P
I got lucky(?) one term, tho - I managed to give myself a concusion the week before finals and got fomally exused from all of them XD

I have literally not seen sunlight in 3 days because I pulled so many all-nighters that I accidentally reversed time zones completely. Also I lost my phone a week ago and I can't get over it.

I managed to pull some back muscles while trying out the paint for my tail. Doing anything hurts, even breathing sometimes so I feel really cruddy. But I LOVE how the paint test came out. So its not all terrible.

She's been super busy she just updated her page, poor girl hurt herself really bad on the chicken wire she used to stamp the tails. which is why she decided on something new.. and awesome

Mermaid Celissa
12-23-2012, 07:25 PM
Oh, so it IS wire. That's okay though. When did you get your update?

New York Mermaid

^ Stevi is using something new?? >.> I am very interested! + Can't wait to see fishbutt's tails!!

My week started out okay. I had Bubs over, we baked Christmas cookies and teased ourselves by watching swimming mermaids...in our tails T_T
About the time Bubs went home did everything start getting crappy. Not only did I pick up on her cold, a pulled a few muscels (sp?) through my new addiction to JUST DANCE 4. I can barely walk  Hopefully I will be better by tomorrow, I have a TON of holiday baking to do :/

So, now I am sitting on the couch, blowing my brains out. Just about the only advantage that came from sitting here is I get to plan and picture what my rainbow reef tail will look like while I read to little kids! Man, now I want to start my top... I better stop thinking about this :(

Happy Holidays to you mers! <3

I think what Lanai is trying to say is...Because of Stevi's injury from chicken wire, she has decided to use something else to make the scales. So, your tail will most likely be getting the new design. You should be excited :3 lol

I meant, I didn't know who was getting the new scales, and if so, what it could be made of. If it's okay with Stevi, can you PM me deets Lanai?

im doing ok, just stressed about christmas, i was all gung ho about making this a stress free year, we had enough money saved up and everything was planned and wonderful, then i found out my partners sister decided that we all have to give a present each to everyone in the family, like my partner gives his brother a present, and i give him one too, and the brothers fiencee, we give one each. no joined presents allowed!

she doesnt understand that we have an extra family to buy for and money doesnt fly out our asses, she doesnt think its fair to buy a present for each of us and we only get her one present per couple, in the past she has gotten us joined cheaper gifts which worked fine. she threw a fit when we protested and said that the brother already agreed and they had each bought presents for me and for my partner.

one of the problems is, the brother has never gotten me a present, let alone his fiancee, he has gotten presents for my partner, but not ones we can both use, which i dont mind in the slightest, but now theres this annoying level of forced gift giving. the brother doesnt know anything about me or what i like, so it will be a standard, bottle of wine or box of chocolates kind of gift, the sort you give out of obligation, and that isnt really what i think christmas is about, and i have a sneaking feeling that they may have misunderstood or pretended to misunderstand (something theyre both famous for) and get us me a present from the both of them, and my partner a present for the both of them, not that i think its tit for tat, but i dont want to look like a dumbass, bringing heaps of presents that were not nessisary.

it may also be a bit of resentment on my part.... i was not liked or really welcome around his family for a long time, i had to work my fins off for them to even make eye contact with me, i went through the mother screaming me out of her house, calling me names, ect, the sister acting superior constantly, and the brothers girlfriend, turned fiencee, gets welcomed from the get go, everyone automatically loves her.... it kind of bums me out....

can we make that two vents?

Ok so i've been in paradise (Hawaii) for a week, and I've had a really good time re-connecting with my family and relatives who live here. However, I have had a sore throat the past two days and I'm hoping I won't get sick. I guess the quick transition from a 60 degree climate to an 80 degree one has caught up to me and I'm finally feeling the effects, only to return to the cooler climate in a few days. Anyways, I've been having a really good time, however I, like most of you, am worried about my financial situation. My car and health insurance have both increased and I am worried i won't be able to pay them in the new year... I also feel bad because I will only be able to give my family Christmas cards this year, and not actual gifts. I hope they understand, and I hope I can make it through next year. :-/

This is a great thread by the way.

I am back! Had a busy winter break with packing and traveling, and a week here were I couldn't get to the forum, heh. But overall I'm well--settling into my new country, Ireland, where I'll be living for five months while I study abroad.

Had to leave my tail behind though :( Didn't have room in my luggage. Might ask my mom to bring the skin wiht her when she comes visit me though... and maybe get a monofin mailed to me... I thought I could do without it but later in the year when there's SWIMMING in the OCEAN I know I will have a fit if I can't take it to the (admittedly cold) beach:D

Bella--that present thing just sounds ridiculous... sheesh. Hope it went smoothly.

And hope you're feeling better too, spottedcatfish!

A lot going on. Um. Well, I am in band (bass drum) and we are entering
marching season. We have to march in 5 parades this year ( this is my first year). Mardi Gras is early this year so we will be marching February 2. Not only do I play bass but I have to switch of during parades to play symbols. I just today learned how to use them. This Thursday we have a basketball game to play at with a bunch of music I just learned today that I'm afraid I'm gonna forget. Been at school all day (from 7 am- 5 pm) and have homework. *sigh Thank you mernetwork for being the perfect escape. Now... Back to the real world. Geometry? Bring it on.

Butterfly- Aw i sympathize :( I am in marching, concert, and pep band and it can be really hard sometimes esp when they just throw the music at you and say play! And 5 parades are a lot! Talk about a work out.

These past three months have been the absolute worst in terms of stress and school I have ever known. I am taking AP classes which are hard enough already, but in addition to that there are college applications to complete, scholarships to apply for, clubs to participate in, soccer state cup starts up again, my HUGE senior project is due by the end of the month, and everything regular already! I am getting so stressed that I am actually physically getting sick. :( :headwall:

Jadestone - super jealous you get to study in ireland!! AH! I want to go there so bad!!

Butterly Vision - Good luck with your homework!! And a calendar/planner always help me keep things straight/remember when things are!

Me? I'm exhausted... working a 9.5hr day with no breaks (not even a lunch break) we're super short staffed at work (still). And I'm kinda sorta... mad. I really want to go on a vacation (I NEED ONE) and I have a friend offering to take me to Whistler to go snowboarding for 5 days FOR FREE!! I asked me boss if I could have the time off, but she's leaving it up to my coworker!! WTF?!? She had Christmas Eve, the day after Christmas, the Friday before New Years AND New Years Eve OFF! ALL OF WHICH I HAD TO WORK - w/o my boss asking me if I cared that those were then going to be 9.5/no lunch break days... She better say yes... Or I might get verbally angry tomorrow =_=
On a happier note I'm doing a speed dating thing tonight! I don't have my hopes up to meet anyone, but I just hope to have fun, still!!

Hello again to all!

I know I disappeared over the past few weeks but was dealing with health issues. I had, a bout of H1N1 that put me in the hospital for 3 days...I was sick for almost 3 weeks, better for 2, and then managed to catch a respiratory bug. *laughs* When I do it, I do it right! I am feeling far better now.

Tail updates : fabrics and trims are here for my Wonder Woman themed tail. Oceanika is back ordered, so decided to make it as a skin to go over my existing Finnis Rapid. The bustier is already in progress...pics to follow in the next week of my design board and current progress on the top.
Update on my tail from Mermaid Kiara...last payment was made! My tail is in progress and should be done and on its way to me by February's end.

My headpiece from Mermaid Delilah arrived yesterday and it BLEW MY MIND! Will talk more about that in the proper thread.

I have a lot of catching up to do here! Off to catch up on threads. Later, Gators!

This thread hasn't been touched in a while, hm? :p

I'm doing really great. I'm working right now, making money and my mom totally approved my idea of asking for an Oceanika for my birthday. I'm super psyched. She knows it's expensive and she's a bit afraid of me getting tired of it (has she seen how much use my Churchill fins are getting, despite the blisters they cause? :p) but I'm not worried about that happening. And maybe before wintertime I'll even make a tailskin for it! :yay:

I haven't been by in ages!
I'm having a great semester in Ireland so far :) Lots of things to see and do, though much too cold for swimming. Thinking about if it'dbe worth it to have my tail skin brought here (my parents are visiting in three weeks) for pictures though. Depends on where I end up planning to visit in the coming months I suppose.
