My name is Zelly, it's my professional name as an artist. I'm not yet a mermaid but I am seriously starting my journey.
I found out about this site through Mermaid Raina while watching her on DeviantArt, then on Facebook. Her tail and talents as a model inspired me to research the mermaid community and well, here I am.
My interest in mermaids began when I was young. I am a "fairytale" girl as my mother always called me. I spent hours in the pool and bath. I swam "mermaid style" whenever I got the chance. My father is a marine biologist and has encouraged me to be in the water. Unfortunatly I didn't get to grow up with him due to parental issues but he did take me out often to the beach, tide pools, aquariums and local community pools. He even taught me how to dive in our back yard pool. My mother made sure to put me in every swim class available in our city. It's just too bad we didn't know mermaid was a possible career option for me.
So instead, I became an artist. Mostly digital and film, but I've also been through courses in sculpting and traditional means. I am a lover of all arts. Be it visual, performing and crafting and have tried my hand at many things.
When it comes to performing, I've dipped my foot in the theater pool, musical pool and dancing pool. I am a belly dancer, though I admit I'm not a professional dancer. I just like to shimmy and perform for friends and family. In fact, I am just like that with most of my performances. I'm not shy, just inexperienced in finding public venues with the exception of street performing at conventions.
When it comes to crafting, it varies. I will try anything once from prop making to costuming. Mostly, I love to sew and design costumes.
I am going to be starting my first swimmable tail this year! I am making a couple for my two best friends as well, since they are my cosplay buddies. We perform together at conventions in cosplay. Just silly dances and skits. ;)
The girls are also crafters and costume makers so between the three of us, I believe we can become a great mer trio.
I am looking forward to meeting you all.
(I am loving this site, it just auto saved my post when I thought I lost it moments ago.)
