I have a thread somewhere I started when I was first throwing this idea about but the title and thread is mostly outdated by now.

Anyways, if you remember I had begun a sequin tail last summer. I sewed like 40-50 sequins on and then kinda gave up. That was a lot of work.

Well I found it and the sequins and I really wanted to finish it because I adore how the sequins look. So after some tests and the motivation to just get this thing done, I ditched the sewing and went for E6000 glue.

Man I love that glue.

Anyways, rather than only sewing on like 20 sequins in 2 hours, I now have done this in about 2 hours

Oh and there's my fluke. It's hard to see in the light but it looks nice in person. I'll leave it up to you to figure out what I did.

But yes, this glue is amazing and I got so much more done. Another plus is I'm able to space them out further because I don't need to cover the bright yellow thread so it looks like this

The sewn ones are to the right and the glued to the left. The gold sequins also look kinda green when put on that blue neoprin once the gold of the fluke stopped but it's all right, I still like it.

I AM IN LOVE WITH THIS TAIL. 2 hours for an eighth of it done, so probably another 14 hours of labor but it'll so be worth it. And another like 3 tubes of E6000 glue haha.

Tried the tail on and for the most part it's doing okay right now in terms of stretch. But I will have problems with that soon so I'm trying to stuff the tail with old fabric and sheets and see if that stretches it out. Hoping to grab a few more tubes of E6000 and get quite a bit done today!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WsitgFfQD_c You can try this as you glue on the sequins to hold the tail in place

It's not my tutorial, it belongs to DeepSeaMermaidTails. I think she's on the forum, but I don't know for sure. She has a lot of DIY videos on her channel. https://www.youtube.com/user/deepseamermaidtails

I checked out your page and am a big fan. Your so crafty. Any way keep up the good work, I'm about to start adding some sequins to my tail and was hoping to stay away from the sewing. I look forward to your updates.

It's looking fantastic! How many sequins do you think you're going to need? Also, are you just gluing them at the very tip of the shell or on the whole surface of the sequin?

I'm gluing the whole thing because I noticed when I tested it that it was easier to pull off if the center wasn't glued down. I kinda glob glue on in strips or blobs and just put them down haha. I actually don't know how many sequins I ordered, I believe it was 3,000-4,000 maybe? I probably will not have enough to finish my tail though, but it's been easier since they're not perfectly overlapping, I don't need as many sequins.

Just a picture hehe. I didn't end up doing much last night except for those green-blue sequins on the left. I pulled it around to the other side though you can't see it very well. Also tried it on again and it has this weird bulge thing going but I realized it's cause I was on my bed so my heels were dipping and that side isn't sequined, so it's pushing the mass of that is sequined up in a weird way...anyways I'm hoping it'll fix when I do the other side!

Yup, I'm testing some scale painting for my other tail skin. That'll take me less time and give me a somewhat realistic tail until I get the sequins done so I'm putting the sequins on hold for this, probably. Oh and fun fact, the scales will glow in the dark. Because I'm obsessed.

Wow both are looking really great! Will you report back as to how the sequins that are glued on hold up in water? I am very interested!
