I wanted to start on a new tail made of fabric but I need some advice.
I seem to find everywhere that spandex doesn't last long in chlorine, and unfortunately the only places I have access to for swimming are super chlorinated pools.
I would like my tail to last longer than just one year, after all I have put a lot of effort on the design.
Besides proper maintenance is there any other way to extend the life of my tail? any other fabrics I could try, or maybe coating the tail in some kind of protector??

Hmm, i'm not exactly sure if theres any kind of protector, but I do know that spandexworld sells high performance spandex!http://spandexworld.com/c3/catalog/browse/90
yeah spandex isn't exactly durable, but its a cheap option! I'm getting a silicone one soon!! :yay:you should try to save up!

Does anybody know if that silicone diving spray works on fabric, too?

@allie thank you!
I'm saving up for it but I do also like how easy and workable fabric ones are ^ ^
@photine there is a wash I saw on a thread to clean out the chlorine, but no spray that I know of http://www.suit-saver.com/

this is a common issue. there is no simple way to protect the fabric other than maintenance.you can try lycra, nylon, polyester.I suggest lycra. the main thing is to not scrape the sides or bottom of the pool. you really need to just float. its also important to wash the tail after every swim.
dont leave them to dry in the sun,let it completely dry before putting it on again to keep its shape, handwash in cold water.
double layer the fabric. there should be 4 pieces to the tail.

my lycra one lasted much longer that way. good luck!
