So I'll be graduating this spring and have spent the past three seasons with an AMAZING marching band. Because of my participation in this band, I have regained a part of myself that I lost in a car accident a few years back. I can't put into words what this band, and the director, have done for me, but I want to write the director a thank you letter. Do you have any suggestions on how say thank you when what I am thanking him for can't be described in words?

Any suggestions will be appreciated!

Tell him you are having trouble putting it into words. Talk about exactly, specifically, what it has done for you and how much you appreciate it and talk about some memories from it all. Be specific and just tell him how much you appreciate everything.

try something like this
I just want to thank you all from the bottom of my heart,

Because of music, because of being apart of this band and getting to know some of the most wonderful people i've ever known, As i continue on with my future plans, this is one special memory which i will always keep close to me, because I have gained something special back. Your motivation and friendship has pushed me and shaped me into who I am today. No amount of words could say how truly greatful i really am, but all i can just say is I am thankful to have been given this amazing opportunity and have learned and shared so much with everyone.

You can also buy a cake or something for the band. :)

Long sappy letters always do it for me. I had this incredible television teacher for four years in high school. Our last grade in our English class was to write a letter about our favorite teacher to the school board. I wrote a fantastic letter that told why I loved her so much as a teacher. I printed out two copies and left it on her desk the last time I saw her. I also made a homemade blanket for her newborn baby. I gave it to her the day after mothers day and said that she was like another mother to me.

She really appreciated it. I still don't think it was enough but a very nice letter and a homemade gift/picture would be wonderful.
