Taniira

Hi all!
I've been perusing the threads on here for information for ages, but just finally joined. I'll admit I'm not a very good forum member -- I'll be around consistently for months and then probably drop off the face of the planet for a while until something reminds me about this site.
I live in Charleston, SC -- a beautiful coastal city that needs more mermaids! My boyfriend ordered me a Merberry tail as a Christmas gift and I may try my hand at making my own top. I've been making costumes for a couple of years, as I go to DragonCon in Atlanta, so I think I'll be able to.
My mername is Taniira, which is a name I used for a RPG once (that character had nothing to do with mermaids, but I thought it fit after spending countless hours trying to decide).
My mom used to make up stories for me growing up, and as we lived in South Florida at the time and pretty much lived on the beach and in the pool, often they were about mermaids. She nicknames me Lorelei (and still sometimes calls me that to this day). I've always had an on-and-off obsession with mermaids (and seahorses!).
I hope to be able to go the professional route eventually :)
I'm excited to finally be a member and to get to know everyone better!
