Hi, all!
I've decided to start selling crochet patterns on etsy for baby props, and potentially some other items.. However, I need some people to test my patterns out for me.
Basically, it's a trade. You get the pattern for free, and I get help in fixing it.
There will be several patterns involved, as well as an agreement that you won't post the pattern for free anywhere, or sell the pattern yourself. I have no qualms bout you selling the items that you make, though, as long as I'm credited as the designer on your site. I think that's fair, don't you?
And yes, there are tail patterns. ^_^

Not everyone will get the same patterns, some people will get hats, others will get diaper covers, some will get tails, shirts, accessories you name it.
If I get to a certain point on etsy where I'm making any money at all of of these, I may make patterns for other items.
These patterns will be for sale on The Mermaids of the Great Salt Lake's etsy, Oh My Shells!, as well as on my own etsy, depending on what style it is.

One of the requirements for testing these, though, is you have to be able to adapt and be creative. There are multiple patterns that I've made that ask you to make it so that you like it.

If you're in, post in this thread, and I will send you the pattern via private message, or by email if you'd prefer. Feel free to take pictures as you go and post them in this thread as well.
Once you've finished, let me know and I will send you another pattern.

If you are interested and would like to participate, please write on a paper "I promise not to sell Dottie's patterns" and take a picture of it with your username?(and possibly your tail, just 'cause that would be cute ^_^
So much easier than an official document.

You can also message me and get your first pattern before you even post the photograph.

I'd love to try, I do crochet but I stink at reading patterns...

Well, I'll send you each a pattern anyway.
All you really need to know is
dc= double crochet
hdc= half double crochet
sc= single crochet
ch = chain
y/o= yarn over, meaning wrapping your hook once with your yarn.

Thanks, Kalani. Pass this along to anyone you know that would be willing to test some things out. I've got a stack of projects I need to write patterns for that will need to be tested once I'm finished.

That tail looks so cute! I think I can try one... Its using basic crochet stitch right? Not some fancy crocodile stitch that I've only read about but never done.

I have a full pictorial crochet stitch dictionary if it comes to that...

Croc stitch is really easy once you try it, despite its fancy look!
I watched a video on youtube and bam, 3 tails and 2 scale leggings :)

I am available to test. I have crocheted for over 20 years. I have never tested for someone but have crocheted a lot. I know I could help you out. I am just finishing up a horse pattern for my grand daughter that the designer should have had tested. I've really had to work to understand her directions.
