My name is Whisper and I have loved the water for as long as I can remember. I am excited about the tail making threads that are here. Though I will be making my own tail, I will in time buy at least one as well.
I look forward to learning all I can.

Wonderful to meet you! What kind of tail do you plan on making? Fabric, latex, silicone? :)

I am looking at making a fabric/neoprene tail that will be painted. Then when I go to purchase, I will purchase a silicone tail.

I know this may not be the correct place to ask - but - In my research of different tail makers (full silicone) why is there such a price gap with some of the tail makers? I have seen full silicone tails for as little as $500 and up to a minimum $3000 for a custom full silicone.
I have read that there is silicone and then there is dragon skin silicone... I know that it is best to go with dragon skin silicone, because of quality of material and durability.
Just hoping some one can help me to understand. As I know it will be quite a large bit of money to have one made, I want to make sure that I am making the best decision.

WOW, who is selling full silicone tails for only $500?? i know stevi from fish butts is having a sale right now, but that isnt her normal price for them, they usually start at $1000. she wants to get her silicone tails out there so more people will buy them, and theyre so inexpensive because she sells her tails almost completely at cost. she doesnt make much off of them, she just likes making people happy.
ravens tails start at $3000. her tails are gorgeous. but both (i think) are taking limited tail orders. i know stevi is.
Welcome to Mernetwork, Whisper! And the price gap between sales depends on the quality of the tail (the look, materials, durability, etc). As Annariea said, FishButts is having a special sale, but they are usually $1000. She is able to get her silicone in bulk (or something like that) and sells the tails for little profit to herself. Merbellas Studios, owned by Raven Sutters, produces some insanely high quality tail that look great, and last a while under the proper care. Raven also charges for time and effort, so her tails come out at $3000. but, If you want a good quality tail that will last you a very long time, invest in a more expensive tail from a suitable maker and you will most likely be very happy with the results :)

Annariea & Kalani - Thank you for the information. I have been researching for a while now regarding tails and am always open to peoples input. There are any out there that have more experience with makers and tails in general then myself.
I am in the process of making my own cloth tail, but look forward to 'upgrading' in the future!
Welcome to the network! I wish you the best of luck in your endeavours.
