Do you think that a mermaid would get more human diseases or fish? I tend to think that they would lean towards the fish illness.

I think it depends on whether you think a mermaid is a marine mammal or a half-fish half-human. I tend to lean toward marine mammal, so they'd probably get whatever illnesses whales and dolphins tend to get. I have no idea what those are, either...*goes to google*

I have told kids that I get both. the half of me that is human can get the sniffles, headaches (tho i pretend to be puzzled by those) and if I lose a sequin I chop it up to a fish disease.

oooo!
i have been studying fish diseases and i know that both human and fish get herpes. Ive heard of it in Koi fish mostly so maybe koi mermaids can get it? This is a fun topic. you have inspired me to study!
fish get coccidial infections. contagious through fecal matter.there's a different strand for humans and fish, so its not considere zoonotic.i think figuring out mermaid DNA would help.
external dinoflagellates- some are plankton.its not a virus or bacteria.more evolved than bacteria. eukaryotic cells
we should also look at common illnesses related to diving.

I guess since different fish are cold and warm blooded that means that different mermaids would be get different tings. I wonder if a mermaid gets swimmers ear :/
