Just was thinkin as I was swimming yesterday about the Creature from the Black Lagoon.
He had 2 tails like some of the old Tritons used to in engravings, but he has a gnarled and menacing fish thing going on, like some portrayals of a Merrow. What do you think?
Check out Brian Froud's rendering of a Merrow... seems rather similar to me...

here's a link to a jpeg of the Creature

This is one of my husband's all time fave. movies. He has a lifesized bust of him. Anyway, the Creature was supposed to be the missing link between fish and man. It took on an evolution kind of roll.

As this is personally one of my favorite movies I'll contribute my thoughts. :P

He is basically a different evolutionary step of my man and his proper name to Universal is the Gill Man. I know people would like to have him be a species of mer but I personally consider him a more humanoid like creature with the ability to walk and be on land.

I think Gill Man may be related to Abe Sapien... Just sayin'.
