So I suppose I should introduce myself!

Hi everyone, I'm Rapunzel - or Punzie, as a lot of people have come to call me. Obviously not my real name, but I have come to be known by that nickname because I really love the film Tangled, and greatly resemble the character of Rapunzel in many ways (although since dyeing my hair green the physical resemblence has become less striking, hehe :P ) I was actually kind of freaked out seeing Tangled for the first time because she reminded me of myself so much! I am gaining quite a collection of Tangled memorabilia as well. I bet I am the only person on this site who's favourite Disney princess is not Ariel, but I guess that remains to be seen!

I will say though that as a kid Ariel most certainly was my favourite, and at age 7 I even managed to sew myself my very own mermaid tail. It fitted me and everything, I had never sewed anything before, I just figured it out by myself. Everyone was really amazed, apparently, but I was just happy my mum FINALLY gave me some stuff to make a mermaid tail from! So I guess my getting into mermaiding will be a fulfillment of a childhood dream, as I could imagine it would be for a lot of you as well. I am currently reading everything I can find on this site about how to make tails, and am hoping to be able to make a tail that is as realistic as possible within my budget and capabilities. I'm not sure what material I want to use yet, but with more research I hope to be able to decide and get started soon!

But yeah apart from mermaids, and Tangled, I love metal music and am obsessed with Finland and all things Finnish. It has been a dream of mine for many years to go there. I think my ultimate dream is to see the northern lights (very similar to Rapunzel's dream to see the floating lights, don't you think:))

Hehe, I listen to a lot of different types of metal but I guess my favourite subgenres would be symphonic and folk metal. I also really love doom and am known to listen to a bit of black and death metal here and there :D My favourite band is After Forever, followed closely by Nightwish. And yay ^_^ I know a lot of songs in Finnish, haha. I am teaching myself to speak Finnish too, and I think I do pretty well for someone who just learns on their own, even if I have been very slack with studying it over the past few months

Yes I really can't wait to start making it!!! I am absolutely in love with the silicone-type tails so I think that is what I will be going for even though it will cost a hell of a lot and be very difficult since I have never worked with silicone or anything like it before, but go hard or go home I say ;) I really want something that will last and I can be really proud of. Already my mind is ticking over with all sorts of ideas for tail shapes and colours! \o/

That's cool, I remember always swimming around mermaid-style and pretending I was Ariel, haha. I was even annoyed that I had blonde hair and green eyes instead of red hair and blue eyes like Ariel because I wanted to be just like her XD Although I always liked having green eyes because green is my favourite colour and remember thinking that Ariel would look much better with green eyes because it would match her beautiful green tail. I even did this huge painting of Ariel that I sent into Saturday Disney, which was a TV show that was on every Saturday morning. It was my favourite show at that stage in my life. I won this huge prize pack and had my painting featured on the show, I couldn't believe it when it happened
