Mermaid Themed Clothing

[Mermaid Harmony]

So there are lots of fun Mermaid Fashions going around these days, whether getting it's allure from looking like scales, to the color of the sequins, to just the prints on the t-shirt making you think of us awesome merfolk. I like the last purple one! Anyways, in my art class we are making stencils to spray paint onto our 'smocks' (just white T-shirts) and I made this really pretty mermaid stencil. I'll post it up here when I'm finished :)

I like the subtle, more fashionable looks that suggest but don't shout "mermaid!" A lot of the shirts that say "I'm really a mermaid", and similar things actually kind of bug me, mostly because I see them blogged to death on tumblr, but also because, like any fad, a lot people wear them that just don't have strong feelings about mer. I guess I could be more mature about it, but UGH. I don't like posers. They steal something that I identify with because its momentarily trendy and make me feel less special. :(

Also most of the fonts they use on those shirts I can't stand. Okay, rant over!

I totally agree, sometimes the message is rather defining. It loses the uniqueness of it and makes it seem fake.

I think that's fair, most of the people I run into that know I'm Harmony call me miss mermaid in day to day life, so I figure why not have fun with it. :-)

I have some rather expensive tastes so the clothes I tend to get range in the $50-$100 range which is why I tend to only buy new clothes once or twice a year. I tend to only wear "cheap" clothes around the house or to sleep in. xD
