cut 'em off! Mermaids don't need heels;) but seriously, padding is the answer...you know, like the H2O tails that are not form fitting.

You could try spines/fins like on the back of mine, I think they do a fair job ^.^

As far as padding goes, is there anything that works best, or a technique to wearing it? I would think it would have to be either removable and washable, or nonporous and sewn in to prevent mold and mildew. Does scrap neoprene work well?

It's been talked about a lot on the forum before. There were lots of ideas tossed around, but anyone who has ever come up with a solid answer (that doesn't involve really thick, expensive, and heavy silicone tails) considers it a trade secret :/

Actually, the secret of having a heelless tail is simply;
hold the tail in such a way the heels are the least noticeable, plus on pictures, take the shot from just the right angle :D
