yotsu! i came across this on my tumblr about a month ago, but i didn't really think about using this for anything other then cosplay props.
This stuff is called instamorph, and it's really really cheap (it goes for about USD $17 for a 12 oz bottle)

this stuff is basically a moldable plasic that melts in hot water or air (140 degrees fahrenheit)and it can be remelted and remolded into what ever you want. It's also air dry.

from the amazon listing:
"InstaMorph is an advanced modeling compound that melts in hot water or air (140 deg F) and solidifies at room temperature. When warm, it acts like clay, but when it cools it resembles a strong plastic. Unlike other products that once they dry they are locked in that shape forever, InstaMorph can be reheated over and over again and re-molded into any number of configurations. When InstaMorph is heated to molding temperature, the pellets turn clear. Once the plastic cools, it returns to its original white color. Use it for making exciting art projects at school or at home. Create props, masks, or other costume pieces for Halloween or theater. Makes excellent brackets, parts, molds, or housings for your next project. Make your own action figures or accessories. Mold around existing handles or grips for an easy ergonomic solution. Make custom cases or stands for the latest electronic gadgets. Ideal for prototypers or makers who want a strong, reusable compound. Mold it with your hands, tools, or press around an object to make a mold. InstaMorph can be painted, machined, carved or attached to other materials. InstaMorph can also be dyed or impregnated with glow in the dark powder for other exciting project possibilities. "

I'm thinking that you can use this to make fake seashells, scuplt custom shaped tops, prop weapons, headresses, and other little things.
At first i was worried about the remelting thing, but i don't think i'll have to worry about anyone swimming in 140 degree water.

This must be the same stuff they include with the Dental Distortions veneers I had to create a mold to fit them to your teeth. It has all the same properties, and is just little plastic beads. It was fairly easy to work with (though I had to re-mold them 3 or 4 times to get them to fit snugly, but unless you're doing teeth you wouldn't have to worry about that). You just have to be careful you don't burn yourself with the water, and they do solidify pretty quickly so you don't have very long to mold it.
