I'm newnewnew! I'm so happy that I finally joined mernetwork, my sister and I have been lurking for awhile and dreaming of having beautiful tails like so many of you! We have spent hours admiring tails on mertailor (we found a 5 hour mertailor video on youtube omg) and here on the forum. Those silicone tails look so realistic! And some of you have made such beautiful fabric tails, it's such an inspiration!
We have always loved the sea and the idea of mermaids. But our obsession with tails didnt start until we were on holiday on a Malaysian island, where we saw two women in fabric tails (no monofin though) lounging in the shallow water and taking photos. But they werent very friendly when we asked about their tails, they just replied rather snidely that they had them custom-made. Well, it was probably rude of us to intrude on their photoshoot and gawk anyway heh. I'm glad you guys here are a lot friendlier! :D So yea, after that trip we started finding out more about getting our own tails and that is how we discovered this wonderful community!
A little about me (and my sis - will bug her to sign up on mernetwork too hee):
We're from Singapore, which is in South East Asia. Has anyone here ever been there? I noticed a couple of Singaporeans here too *waves* We shall have our own pod soon I hope!
Anyway, I'm Ayesha the older sis, aged 24 and my sister Hannah (she insists on being known as her mermaid name Sphyraena but whatevs) is 18. She's the creative, artsy type and she can sing so well (I can really imagine her sitting on a rock and singing with the waves crashing, etc). She's applying for art school now and I hope she gets in! She's eternally doing strange things with her hair: it's now blond but it was turquoise a month back and pink the month before. Just a matter of time till it changes colour again!
As for me, my hair is brown with turquoise tips (Hannah had some spare dye). I very recently got employed at a dive centre. It's sort of like an internship, I dont get paid but my training is sponsored up to PADI Divemaster level. So far I'm loving the job, especially my colleagues who are fun, wacky and all-round awesome. I hope to one day move to Thailand and run my own dive centre! But that is still far far ahead in the future...
Hannah and I both love the sea and we always look forward to our annual island holiday. We really hope to have our own tails before our trip this year (in June)! We're both penniless though, so it will take awhile :( What I hope to do is to make my own fabric tail by June and save up enough by next year for a silicone tail. I'm really blown away by Mermaid Raven's tails, and I really really hope to get one of hers eventually hee.
We recently splurged on a couple of Mahina/ Oceanika Merfins and they're due to arrive any day now! So excited! I'm already designing colour schemes for fabric tails, but I've yet to research the availability and cost of spandex/ neoprene in Singapore. And the swimming! Hannah has the dolphin kick down pat but I think I'm gonna need a lot of practice :(
Well that's it about us, this post is getting rather longish! So hello again you awesome merpeople and I cant wait to get to know all of you better :D Cheers!
