I had a similar idea (based on a flying fish merman concept) but I'm still looking into some of the details on sizing Isis wings before I get any (though I've found some fairly inexpensive ones on Amazon) and I'm not sure how well the fabric would hold up and maintain its appearance underwater (and after repeated exposure to water). Still, it certainly would be possible to make your own Isis wings out of swimmable fabric.

I have danced with them before. I've never used them in water. Provided you were only using them in fresh water (no chlorine, no salt) and washed them after use I don't see why you couldn't use them. but because of the general transparency on them you might need to sew 2 or 3 together so you can see them.

There is this one and it's like at 1:35 and you only see them for 4 seconds (of her actually swimming with them on)

In a recent photoshoot I saw on facebook, Hannah was using isis wings in the water, you can go look on her page, but they work in the ocean.

I remember this now! I know that the HUGE tank she was swimming in at Atlantis is 100% sea water. I've been there 3 times.

I have a set of black ones from my bellydancing days, but never thought about swimming with them. I'm going to have to ponder that now!

Youd probably have to re-iron them to keep their shape as the water will make the creasing go away
after a few times.
