Well the saying goes: "better late than never". I guess that would apply here.

Hello MerNetwork. I have been lingering on this site for a couple weeks now. I figured that it made sense to join after continuously searching the web for mermaid information and questions; finding myself here time and time again. I love this place! So many welcoming and knowledgable individuals all in one mer-networking place.

A bit about myself...

I go by Disfusional a lot. Many of my close college friends call me Fusion; I was apart of a Sorority and Fraternity. My wonderful Fraternity brother said he came up with the name all on his own due to my love of welding and 'fusing' things together... when really I think he was searching the web for cars and saw a Ford Fusion and called it a drunken night with just that. haha

I grew up and live in the wonderful 'mitten' state, Michigan. My hometown is surrounded by more lakes then one could even count. I love VPAs (Visual and Performing Arts). I am a High School Art Teacher and love my job!! I some days can not believe that people are paying me to teach and make art with kids all day long!! However, due to being a teacher - I have a second job as well. I work weekends and nights at a big music venue (forgive me, I am not going to disclose the name of the venue), easiest way to get your concert fix in!

Now that you know a bit about me and this interesting name that I have, about my connection with mermaids. I fell in love with mermaids during a middle school mythology class. We were reading the Odyssey, the Sirens drawing men ships. The book showed women taking on a powerful, beautiful, and deadly appearance. It was not till a couple of years ago that I ever thought of transforming myself into a mermaid. My love and fascination with Mermaids leaps out of books and off computer screens into my personal are and body art.

I found myself getting a large scale pattern tattoo on my upper thigh/hip area. I currently in the process of saving up to either buy or make my own silicone tail based off the color scheme I have on my skin. The tattoo artist actually joked that the tattoo might actually turn me into a mermaid when I showered next - One could only wish!

I look forward to learning and making new friends on this site. It seems to be eternally growing in information!!

Thanks! I know that the Sirens in the Odyssey were the women with bird features. But for one reason or another, I always imagined them in my head as the half women half fish type. ^^

^ Same! There are two different sirens i've heard of: The bird ones and the mermaid-like ones. I guess it all just depends what you are reading? I wonder how the two different versions came to be...
