A 13 year old? I'm writing a mermaid book, but I would like to know if anyone would actually buy it since I'm so young. :3

If it's a well written book, your age wont matter. I just wouldn't suggest writing it in hopes of making money off it. Most the time authors only make money is when they have numerous publications. And often, books written in hopes of profit, don't go far.
My advice, if you want to write it, then write it. Don't care what others think and don't worry about if people will buy it or not. Just write. Be creative. And don't worry about others.
EDIT: I've done my fair share of editing. High school newspaper for 4 years. 2 of which I was the editor. Got an award from the school when I graduated for the best editor they had since 1994. Expanded the paper by 3 sections, adding 7 front and back pages (So 14 pages). If you've got any questions, need help, or someone to just look over it, let me know and I can take a look at it for you.

Supposedly the girl who wrote twilight made it sound like a 13 year old wrote it and look how good she ended up doing! xD
Haha I'm just messing with you. But what Morticia said, I don't think it matters, just get it proof-read before you go out there to make sure what you say makes sense, is spelled correctly, etc etc.

I agree, as long as it's well written, and you have someone (preferably multiple someones) checking it over for typos, grammatical errors, and punctuation. I started writing when I was still in grade school. Most was cheesy vampire or weird fantasy stories, but I still had people tell me that they enjoyed them.

If it were published, of course. If not, it would depend on the writing.

To be truthful, Seagirls, I wouldn't recommend writing an entire, full-fledged book for the market at your age. In this day and age, there are thousands of individuals writing thousands of books, each of whom aim to become published authors. These individuals are competing very strongly with each other, and not for the Number One Best Seller spot, but for the very chance to be published at all! Many of them have decades of writing experience under their belts. I would recommend writing a few shorter stories first, and perhaps sharing them with friends, or with a young adult's writing group. This will introduce you to story-writing, and allow you to practice storytelling and writing technique. Writing a complete novel is a very hard task which required hundreds of hours of work, no matter how long or short the novel is, and every completed novel requires several re-writes before it's ready for the public. This can take several years!
I would strongly recommend you attempt smaller things first. :)

Some of the best stuff I've written is at a young age where your imagination runs rampant and life has yet to fix you in your ways of life. It doesnt matter if it isnt bought, you at least have it to reflect upon when you are older. Besides, one of the greatest works of art was written by a 19 year old (frankenstein by Mary Shelly).
I think writing a book in your spare time is a nice thing to do just for your self and such an achievement if u finish it. But if it does get published age wont come into it because people dont see the age of the author when they buy the book. You might get further though writing scripts for your you tube series or by writing poetry. I was thinking it might be fun to start a story thread, a bit like the game consequences when each person adds a paragraph to the story...what do u guys think?

I'm working on my own book, not mermaid related, but I know it will not be finished for years to come. I dream of having it published :3

Do what you want. If the story is good and the quality of the writing is good enough that it doesn't get in the way of the reader enjoying the story, it will work and your age will not matter.
Write what you feel, short story, novella or novel. The important thing is to write, write, write.
Write when you're happy. Write when you're sad. Just do it.
Oh, don't expect to get rich. It might happen, but it should never be the reason you write. Trying to guess what others want you to write will hinder your imagination.
Good luck. I wish I had started younger.

If it's written well enough and has a strong plot, then I think it would actually be cooler to read a book written by a teen!
Oh and have you ever looked at any writing websites? I'm on figment.com and wattpad.com, they're really good places to just get feedback and stuff.

I say go for! And if you want to publish it just to have a physical copy, you could do a self published book using a print on demand company.
And I also suggest joining a writing club if there's one by you.there was one where I used to live as you could print out a few copies of the first draft and hand them out for everyone to edit and scribble thoughts on then Han them back to you when they're done. If you don't have a writing club, do the same thing but whatever you do , don't give them to family if you want legit tough critic! You could ossibly mail a copy to someone over email or something for them to look over.
