Hello! Has anyone ever attempted to sew shell sequins to a spandex tail? I heard Neoprin isn't the best quality material to create a tail with, and since I am on a budget I don't want to pay a dorsil fin and fluke for a few yards of Neoprene...
Has anyone ever done completed a tail in this manner? If so, did it work?

Although I am sure it could be done, there are several reasons spandex is not used when making a sequin tail. The first is that spandex does not last very long, leaving all of your hard work to diminish before you are ready to see it go. Next up is that fact that the sequins create a lot of weight, weigh your spandex down quite a bit. Lastly, spandex stretches...alot. It would be hard to add all the sequins so that "skin" dosen't show up. Again, I don't see why it couldn't be done though, I believe Mer_Adella did so with her tail and I could be wrong, but I think Morticia did so as well. I plan on trying it my self. Good luck :3

You could get sheets of sequin fabric and sew it on to the neoprin? That way, when the neoprin stretches, you can just unpick the fabric and re-sew it.
Bear in mind though I've never made a fabric tail so someone else might want to chime in on whether this would work or not xD
