So I have been around on this network for about six months now and I thought well It is about time I introduced myself.

I am a third year student about to graduate argh!
My obsession with mermaids really took off when I was 8 and my parents got divorced I am 21 now (too young for splash and too old for H20) and whenever life gets tough I always dream that I am a mermaid far away. The more I dream about this the more I Realise its time to make a change.

I love the mermaid movement. Its all about women having body confidence. Something which is lacking in this world. I just did a module on remaking the body last term and I wish I wrote about it as an interesting comparison I bet that would have got me a first class mark :P For someone who was bullied the whole way through school for being tall this really hits home with me.

An amazing book I had as a child was Penny Dawns How to be a little Mermaid, and every other book she wrote :)
I got them for all my friends and they had little bits and pieces to make a mermaid costume hidden in them.
I also got into the Disney Princess Magazine first issue I got when I was camping in Dorset (issue 9) and it had an Ariel Comb. I still have it

I seriously got into mermaids again at about 15/16 when one of my cosplaying friends drew mermaids in art and someone else had a POTC party. And WOW what i found online. I think I found Meryuku but never signed up. I'm not sure whether it was the last POTC movie or something else which made me look back online but I love how much the mermaid movement has moved on and look froward to some more European tail makers being established so when I have money I can go buy another tail. I have a magic tail in marina which is lovely, but im not going to post pics of me in it because i dont trust the safety of the internet anymore. My first attempt at making a fluke was two coat hangers bent itno shape with a pair of tights and pjs. Then I moved on to paper mache when I did GCSE art. and theres a paper mache fluke somewhere at home. Spent hard worked earnings on a tail because I thought I deserved to make my dreams come true. Would just love to be able to swim in it. Looking at travelling next year before further study. US or Deutschland here I come :)

Sorry this is so long. :P I write too much
