Hey y'all! I am Erryngwir (mistyped my user name :doh:) and I have decided on my mer-name just last night, so now I am also Mermaid Marilla. I love mermaids, and as toddler I was seen mostly with a pillowcase tied at my ankles and waist and informed all that my new name was Ariel. this was not a short phase either, I went through two VHS copies of Disney's "The Little Mermaid" and I still know every song by heart. I was always wanting to make a tail out of something or another, but then life pulled me on its course and I found I love many, many, genres and stories. I attend Dragon*Con every year and I am a regular costumer and concept artist (for myself and friends, not for any cool studios or anything). I love art, but something about becoming the character that is really special. Then, over the past year, my love of the worlds waters: rivers, lakes, and oceans, has pulled me back to the creature that started it all; the magical, elusive, mermaid!
I have been all over your forums in the past few months, not sure if I could afford to do the work that I really want to. I have been blessed in life with a wonderful husband and a lovely baby boy and since I don't work in order to be with my son, funds are tight. I have gotten it in my mind that I am going to use the tail not only to become Marrilla for conventions, but to do other events and parties for hire. This means my first tail is going to be an investment and has to look great!
So here I am to humbly ask that you bear with my many questions and theories. I hope that you can see how grateful I am that there is such a lovely community here with so many helpful mers and oh such a wealth of information. Thank you all!
