Mermaid Ondine, checking in!

Hi there! My name's mermaid Ondine. I'm one of a trio of mermaids just starting out in the UK, called Merlesque (you can see our website here! (http://www.realmermaids.co.uk) and we're also on Facebook (http://www.facebook.com/RealMermaidsUK)and Twitter (https://twitter.com/GrumpyMermaid), and keen to find new friends on both!). I found out about the whole concept of mermaiding through a friend of mine, the lovely mermaid Melusine, way back in 2011 - and it sounded like a pretty awesome idea. We officially launched the website and business in February, so we're still fairly new to this! And definitely discovering that mermaiding is probably a little easier for those lucky ladies who live in nice hot climates. We're fortunate enough to have a nice local pool, but it's still a little sad to have to walk through snow to get there (in March! I cannot wait for the summer...)

I re-discovered MerNetwork via Facebook in fact - we'd definitely used some of the handy FAQs and things on here for advice when we were first setting up, but I'd forgotten the name of the site. But I've been searching for mermaids on Facebook and Twitter to try to connect with as many of you guys as possible, and the MerNetwork Facebook page popped up.

Currently all three of us have MagicTails for swimming (I've got an awesome pinky/purple one which I love!) and then we also each have homemade glittery fabric tails & shell sequin tops for dry land events. I'm keen to try my hand at making some mermaid accessories too - especially some of the amazing shell bra tops I've been seeing around the site.

I've now officially run out of ideas for what else to say ... but it's awesome to be here!

Hi and welcome! Glad you joined the mernetwork. I really like the look of your bras (that sounds really weird)...with your tails. Did you make them? I like your tails, too. :)

Kalani - yes, in fact I think they might both already have accounts, but have been lurking rather than posting! I will encourage them to introduce themselves though :)

Eris - yes, each of us made our own bras. You can't really tell from the pictures, but they're made with very small shell sequins. Lorelei covered her whole bra in them, but it takes so long to sew them that Melusine and I decided to go for half-sequin, half-fabric. I quite like the overall effect in the end though, we just about manage to match one another enough, without being identical. I'm really keen to make a shell bra as well though, I love the effect, so that's next on my (quite long) mermaid to-do list!
