The Daily Inspiration Thread

Well, when I get on here I want to see artsy stuff people are working on. It'd be nice to consolidate all things inspiring in the mer world be it a picture you've seen, a fish that grabs your interest, a location you'd like to swim, or whatever else that makes you feel like you belong somewhere aquatic. So, this is the inspiration thread, free of all things limiting and just meant to fuel creative outlets. I'll start with pictures of fishes I've collected and well, we'll just see what it becomes.

It'd be cool if people can post daily to help keep the world a prettier place!

WOw I love the photos of the garden! How pretty!
Your goldfish/koi also have very nice tails~ I always love the flowy loof of them


I think this is an inspiration of mine to get a tail done before this summer! It's a place near where I live and it's a GORGEOUS freshwater pool with all sorts of natural looking rocks. I really hope to one day be affiliated with them as a mermaid!

love this thread. lures inspire me. they are made to attract yet they sometimes don't work, you find them at the bottom of the sea when they break off,and its like teasing the fishermen when you wear them.this one at the aquarium was really neat to me.10484

I'm a photographer so I spend a lot of time researching and looking at images lol. I follow a lot of fashion blogs/newsletters like fashion gone rogue, and though I haven't been active on there much recently cause of uni, I find a lot of stuff on tumblr as I follow a lot of fashion tumblrs and such.

When I'm trying to get into my "mermaid headspace" I look at different sensory input, like sight/sound/touch/taste/smell.

For sight, I like looking at high resolution images of beaches, islands, lakes, underwater caves, and other places I would imagine mermaids would live.

For sound, pretty much anything from the mermaid music thread plus ocean, river, or waterfall noises. This website is a white noise generator with a bunch of different sounds you can customize: http://mynoise.net/NoiseMachines/oceanNoiseGenerator.php

For touch, any time I take a shower or bath. I just close my eyes and concentrate on the feel of the water flowing over my skin.

For taste, sea food. :p I know it's not everyone's thing, but I love it. Basically if it swam when it was alive I think it's delicious, but I try not to eat it too often because I don't want to contribute to the overfishing of the oceans.

For smell, "ocean breeze" scented candles and sunscreen. Honestly nothing smells more like the beach to me than coconut sunscreen!
