Hi my name is Meghan. I'm 16. I have only recently found out that you can buy mermaid tails. I've liked mermaids since I was young and especially the show H2O. Lately some of my friends and I have been talking about buying tails. I think it would be amazing! Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

I guess I'm not sure. What is a good beginner tail that is relatively affordable for a teenager? My birthday is coming up so I will have some money but I definitely cannot shell out $3000 or anything insane like that! Should I begin with a monofin?

Depends how comfortable you are with the dolphin kick. I wasn't comfortable at all, so I began with a monofin to strengthen my swimming technique and get used to the kick. The monofin helps you get used to having your feet together, but you can still "frog" your legs out. The tail keeps both your legs and feet together.

I'd definitely go with a fabric tail or monofin first. For fabric tails, there's aquatails, Emily Angelfish, magictail, shell tail labs, ShadowFancy...lots of them out there. Feel free to check out the reviews section (http://mernetwork.com/index/forumdisplay.php?74-Tailmaker-Reviews) for reviews of many tail makers. ;-)

I should probably strengthen my kick first. I was looking at the magictail website and I think those are reasonably priced but I'm a bit nervous about ordering from a company based so far away. What are your tails like?
