Hey guys! I just looked up Oceanika Merfins, and it looks like they changed their name to "Mahina," after their mermaid. Interesting! When did that happen? Thoughts?

hrmmm... they have established a client base on the name 'oceanika merfin' they have a good rep, i have no idea why they decided to change it... all it does is make it harder for people to find them....

Not sure, it happened a while ago now.
The store I bought mine from still sells them as Oceanika Merfins....
it could be the precursor to the Orca fin she's supposed to be bringing out next year, as well as the upgrade to adult (ie, Larger) sizes.

It is going to be really confusing. I got my Oceanika during the change (has an O because it's from eBay) but I'll forever be calling it an Oceanika MerFin versus a Mahina MerFin.

I recently posted about this change on the oceanika merfins thread. I don't care what they changed their name to, it will forever be an oceanika! :3

They're partially out of stock right now, but the Large 5-7 is still in stock right now, which is at least something since I think that's the size the majority of the forum would wear. :P But yes, they said they'd all be in stock by March but that didn't seem to be the case. D:

I think I'm a medium?
I'm a shoesize 7-7.5 but the sizes on the site went by measurements so I measured my foot and its basically 9" which matched the medium so I assume that's what I am? I mean if I can get the larger size that'd be awesome but from what I understand I'm a M

I think that it's early enough in the business to change the name. And you won't have a hard time learning the mermaid's name if she has the same name as the fin. Also, I always kind of found that it had an ambiguous pronunciation. I say "Ocean-EEka," but some people say "O-she-AN-icka." Maybe it was just too hard to get everyone to say the same thing? Haha.

And Saphira, sorry I didn't see your post! I guess I didn't look hard enough before starting this thread. Haha oops!

Kanti, I am a shoe size 6-7 and Large fits snug so I highly suggest not getting the Medium. If you are a size 7-7.5 even the Large might be too small for you. However, the rubber around the ankle does stretch a ton after some wear so I wouldn't give up hope. Good luck!

I'm a size eight and my large fits me well personally. Measure the foot!! But socks are a must.

it could be the precursor to the Orca fin she's supposed to be bringing out next year, as well as the upgrade to adult (ie, Larger) sizes.

Where is that info from? Couldn't find it on their site.

I would've liked to get an Oceanika from them, but then I looked up the size chart and saw it was only for children or small adults; body height for the leggings ends with 150cm, and the largest monofin is for feet smaller than 24cm.

I fit into small sizes no problem, but I'm tall
(why is it that size length only increases with width, girth and all?
As if everyone taller is automatically also much broader and fatter than someone small?!),

and my feet are roughly 26cm, so I'd be happy to see them introduce some larger fins :)
